High school class of 2016

@GreatCatsby Lucky!!! How did you find an internship!? Did you apply through a program designed specifically for hs students, or did you just ask a professor? I’ve literally seen hundreds of students apply to my dad for help and he replies to them the same way EVERY single time. “Thank you for your interest, but …”

@EveningSwan: my father knew a few of the people working there, and he told me I had to directly ask them myself. meaning that he wouldn’t interfere with their decisions and i had to contact them myself. plus i’ve known one of the chief researchers since i was a little kid!!!

Ahh, I see. That would work for me too, if I wanted to find an internship in a chemistry lab. Unfortunately, I have little interest in chemistry, so I’m on my own.

@TheAtlantic what did you get if you don’t mind me asking?? I should have taken it

Hey Catsby…

I live 30-90 minutes away from Harvard Med…

170
(58 cr | 56 m | 56 ws)

Nice job Atlantic! :)

I taking these classes sophomore year:
•Accelerated Math III
•Latin III
•AP Pyscology
•AP World History
•Latin VIII
•Honors American Literature
•H/AP Physics
•H/AP Earth Science

Rigorous enough??

Sent from my XT557 using CC

What’s accelerated math?

Anyway, there was a shooting at an ELEMENTARY school near me…27 are dead, 20 are kindergarten students.

R.I.P

^Heard about that. It’s pretty sad :(

@Samantha: I agree with Apollo11, could you elaborate on what you do in Accelerated Math III? And I think you meant Latin IV, not VIII haha :stuck_out_tongue: But it’s all good! I think your course schedule is good! Maintain high grades and you’ll do fine :)

Where I’m from,
Accelerated Math III would mean that you’d learn Math 3 Material, + the first semester of Math 4s material.

What’s Math 3?

Its covers precalculus, trig, and some other stuff.

Sent from my XT557 using CC

@MathGuy777 it is Latin VIII, after III all the levels are equal and they are different topics (roman war, mythology, etc) and acc math III is precalculus and trig

@Samantha It might be just me, but what do you mean by ‘rigorous enough’? I see that we all want to show colleges that we try hard, but personally, it sounds like you’re taking those classes for an extrinsic value.

@EveningSwan I meant should I be taking a few more APs?

Sent from my XT557 using CC

^Dude, you’ve got more than enough APs. I’m taking like… one next year haha.

@Samantha:
AP’s ** don’t ** decide your admission to college. If anything, they are made to help you for your SAT II’s which are actually needed for admission and also you should go on a CC adventure. Check out some competitions and awards you can do (I have a post somewhere about it). Also, see if you can become the valedictorian or at least attempt to at your high school.

Holidays ending in 2 weeks (which will basically be family holiday + Christmas / new year). Then I’ll officially join you guys in 9th grade! Can’t decide whether I’m excited or apprehensive or whatever

@BurningIce Wow, your break was quick! Didn’t you just get out for summer vacation? (or whatever the Singaporean equivalent is. fine, end-of-the-year break.)

Anyway, the school year is halfway over!! Woot, woot! I have three days of school left and I’m out for Christmas break :D
