That’s better than what my older brother got (he’s a junior) ;)

Alaska, wow! I wish I could go on a cruise.

I really like cruises because they stop at ports, so you can explore different parts of the destination (Alaska, Bahamas, etc.) :D

What do you guys have for summer work? I have to read East of Eden and A Little History of the World, and complete a French literature packet.

I have two read two books by Ray Bradbury (I picked Fahrenheit 451 and Farewell Summer), annotate both, and make a powerpoint comparing the two books.

I have to read In the Time of the Butterflies, and take notes throughout the book. I also have to read 4 other books from a list they gave us, I chose Wicked, Pride & Prejudice, the Secret Life of Bees, and Lord of the Flies.

I read Lord of the Flies a while ago- it’s a cool book.

Who gives you your summer reading? Since we’re going to high school next year, will you actually ever be tested on it?

ok to get back to the point of this thread “17ers”, I agree with all of the c/o 16,15,14 on here. I’m reading this and I’m amazed at how much you guys are already taking PSATs and SATs. Honestly guys, you really should focus on actually living in high school. The time will come when you are going to apply to college and your experiences in high school are going to be limited to what you did to prepare for college.

My advice:

Don’t stress. College apps are 3 to 4 years away so you don’t need to worry about SATs just yet. If you want, take the PSAT just to see where you stand, but DO NOT STRESS. Please guys, I can’t help but point this out.

Grades. Yes I know I just said not to stress, but you guys obviously have high aspirations. Get good grades, take the most challenging courses you can, and join clubs like CSF, NHS, Key and Leo Club, but only if this is what interests you.

Get involved. Freshman year for me was a year that I really just got to know the school and figure out what it was that I wanted. As a rising sophomore, now I am joining different clubs but I am also trying new things. If you’re an introvert, I can’t say joining clubs will help you make friends but what I would do is to find a study buddy in your classes and just build on that foundation.

And guys, yes am c/o 2016, but freshman need to have fun while they can. I don’t know how sophomore year will be like yet but I know that it will get harder. Good luck with the next four years though.

I don’t have any summer reading this year. I will just read for pleasure as usual :D

I don’t understand how most of you have so many post count when you haven’t even entered high school yet. Just calm down and stop worrying about things that don’t even matter right now. This is suppose to be the easiest of all four years so there’s no need to stress over things like the SAT and just make it harder for yourself. If you guys did that well before even entering high school then imagine how well you could do Junior year. Relax. On a side note, it seems like there is a lot of passive bragging here. LOL

We’re all just talking and getting to know one another, no bragging (at least I haven’t seen any).

Freshies don’t have anything to brag about

Been lurking this thread for awhile, Its nice to see all the other freshman on here!

Is anyone else self-studying an AP this year? I’m doing APES.

Welcome to the thread ^

I might self-study AP Psychology, I’m going to see how it goes!

@Connor11 I have a similar schedule as yours. I may also take an APES course online, and my parents think it’s a good idea, but they’re worried that it might affect my GPA.

I don’t know if there is a more active 2017 thread but someone recommended I look for this thread so any 17’rs on right now? Haha this thread hasn’t been replied to since February so… Anyway for the 17’rs on, are you guys nervous about freshmen year? I know I am but I’m pretty excited too!

This thread was just replied to on August 3rd :).

I’m not nervous at all for freshman year! I’m actually getting more and more excited as the summer drags on.

Are you nervous?
