It would be super interesting to see what each of you looks like; stereotypes are already forming in my head :D

@ScienceKid99

You can take the PSAT and the SAT before frosh year… It does make sense, actually. Don’t have to be so skeptical.

@Yakisoba

Don’t. When you apply to colleges they usually judge you by the opportunities available that you take advantage of compared to other people (For example, even if I got an 800 CR, I am in NO way allowed to take AP Lang in Frosh or Soph year. Can’t do AP Chem either even if I took Honors online…) Because I am limited in that sense (although I am doing CTY), it would be unfair to judge me with people who DO have that opportunity. However, in a case where I am being judged with someone who has the same opportunities that I do, but for example I take more advantage of the same opportunities (and/or go above and beyond) , I would be viewed as more suitable.

Unless… you can take AP Lang, AP Chinese, AP Chem, and APHG at school in 9th grade (which I’m pretty sure a lot of schools don’t do, other than HG.)

Nope. I haven’t

@TheApplier While it’s true that I am limited to just AP Gov freshman year, I only got a 1940 on the SAT…perhaps I shouldn’t use the word “only,” but you get my point.

@ Applier
What? Skeptical? How? Lol, a lot of questions; so redundant. But what do you mean? That doesn’t even fit into the context of the conversation; nor describe my current state of emotion…
I guess you mean something else because I had a bemused look when I read that… I can’t take any AP’s like you guys, but that doesn’t bother me. We all go down different paths. Like in The Alchemist, “the world conspires in favor of one looking for his personal legend”.

@tomatox
That’s just creepy. Perception wise, that’s just how I think of it.

Sorry, you did sound a bit skeptical. It’s okay though, misunderstandings are too easy on the internet.

@yakisoba
I am very lucky I’ve had the opportunity to take advanced classes online. That is the one and only reason I am in those classes. I’m not necessarily smarter than any of you. I think my school is more flexible, too; there’s actually another freshman in my Calc class.
And anyway, I kinda wish I had taken a lighter class load. There’s really no purpose in taking all these classes early.

Don’t worry about the SAT. It’s neither an intelligence test nor a predictor of success.

@tomatox
Elaborate
And no, I don’t have glasses or braces.

It’s fine
Biology & Astrophysics are so amazing to me. I’ve loved Outer Spacer ever since I was like 6. Ever since then every project I’ve done has been based off of that topic… I know mostly more about Stars but was too lazy to learn to small facts… Lol every fact is important.
I like how we aren’t talking about race (unless judgements were already accomplished beforehand, but remain as implications… Then idk)

Haha yeah I didn’t mean to create a misunderstanding or anything; it’s just that you sounded doubtful about the SAT thing, so I used skeptical. :-)

@sg12909

Do you and tomatox know each other or something? I specifically remember one of you calling the other one “Derek” at some point in this thread…

No, but he’s told us his name back in some other forum, and it’s easier to spell than “tomatox” xD

Don’t worry about it, it’s cool :D

Wow, do you want to go into NASA?

As an Astrophysicist- I would LOVE to. If I can stop procrastinating and get on with my Earth Science book right now; I’d be we’ll on my way. I guess it’s because I already feel good on the topic… Though the book conveys the message of capacitating facts I’m dying to know… Procrastination is indeed evil… :D

I know, right? Speaking of which, I should probably do my homework…

I just found this thread and wanted to say, Im in the class of 2017 Though, it looks like most of you have already started school, I wish I had already, I got two more days to go.

Thats awesome! Although I haven’t started school yet… I have a week until school.

It’s just that when I see someone do drastically better than me after all my hard work, I feel like I hit a wall that can’t be overcome. If anyone watches/reads Naruto, think of it as me being Rock Lee and all the super geniuses in the world being Neji.

Anyway, I don’t want to dwell on this for a long time, so new topic. Does your school have vending machines? But the school is messed up because you can buy a Coke, but you can only drink water in class.

@ScienceKidd99 A week until school? Wow, I live in Canada and thought that we started late compared to those who live in the united states (then again its because they finish school long before us). Do you live in the US and just start later than most? Sorry, I’m just curious :)

@Yakisoba Vending machines…I don’t think we have a lot, if any. Although, I wouldn’t be too sure, seeing as I’ve only stepped foot into the school a couple times for tours and orientation.

@Madison
Yeah we start late and we end later… I live in NY.

@ Yakisoba
OMG I LOVE NARUTO. I read the manga, play the game and watch the anime. I’m up to date with all of it… Lol, anyway, I’m the type of person that procrastinates ALOT (like now)… Though I wasn’t the best student, took no honors in 8th and never studied; I still managed a 95 gpa in the last Marking period with a 96 being the highest that year.
There was a kid who was from France and my friends said all he did was study… Well that was obvious because he had a 99 gpa, but still didn’t beat our valedictorian because she had taken all the hardest classes and had a 99 gpa… Major difference… But I imagine what gpa I would have if I actually did study… It would be like 97+ not joke. I guess I’m a nerd being that I never study. But now I will since high school is here :)

@yakisoba we have Gatorade and water in our vending machines.

@ivy welcome!

@sciencekid I actually don’t do exceptionally well in my classes. I tend to annoy the stricter teachers. I’d put my average grade as around 93-95.
