Oh wow you don’t say.

I hate it when I get out-Asian’d

Yeah that’s what I meant. lol

I get my report card on tuesday. My predicted grades:

Algebra 1: (Somewhere in the 80’s or 90’s)

Humanities: 95-97 depending on how I did on the midterm

Spanish 2 H: 97 (This is probably my final grade since midterm grade was already added)

Gym: 96 (Will this really go towards why GPA? Doubt it. Maybe)

Biochemistry: 99 (Probably my final grade since midterm grade was put in along with last assignments)

Quantitative Research: 93 (Everyones grades went up because she took the first exam grade off and just entered Midterm Exam grades)

Art: 98 (Yeah, My final grade.)

@eliana nothing much just chilling haha

@sciencekid, nice, what’s quantitative research exactly?

Quantitative Research is like a statistics/numbers based class where we analyze and create data.

Which elective do you think would be most beneficial to take AP economics or creative writing?

@Kavars

More context would be helpful. What does the rest of your schedule look like? What is your probable future? What are you interests?

That’s a little tough, but I would do what you think you would like more. Creative writing could help you big time with college essays and essays throughout high school, while an AP is an AP after all.

Just do what you think you would like more.

Just joined new member here! I go to a pretty average school but they offer multiple AP’s I am taking none however. I’m an above average student but I play 2 sports and adjusting to High School combined with that equaled a shaky start. Here’s my current grades. I have no idea how GPA works and all that, hopefully someone can tell me what I have.

Biology:94
Best class, no problems here.

Coordinate Algebra:76
Bad at math plus teacher only has Quizzes and Tests as grades. My school goes by a Summative/Formative format. Summatives count as 79, Formatives are 21
In Formative category I have a 82, in Summative I have a 70 cause I screwed up on a test.
My grade is slowly crawling back up from a 60 but its progress

Honors 9th Lit and Comp:83
Harder class, got a bad grade on Essay at start of the year, messed me up pretty bad. Working to get it up however.

Honors World Geography:93
Stuff is interesting to me. Could use a few better quiz grades but solid class.

PE and Weight Lifting (2 classes): both 100.
Like I said athlete, so I have to take them. Easy 100’s

Intro to Graphics and Design:91
A class where we learn to use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. It’s a 4 year pathway corse that helps when knowing the basics of how to be a graphic designer.

Thats it really. Football just ended for me so way more time to study. Have 3 weeks of actual class time before Midterms and all that. Going to keep grinding and hopefully pull out 3 A’s and a B.

Welcome dude! Okay grades so far, and about that Algebra lol. It’s hard at first then it just gets simpler :). I had a C in Algebra for like a week until I got 3 100’s in a row, but my suggestion would be to devote yourself to it, make yourself swear that you will ace every test and make it happen. I did that and ended up with a 96 in the class because I was so ****ed off at my self.

One thing is that don’t get too worked up with this site, it sucked me it pretty quickly, don’t let that happen to you. Get on once every 3-4 days to maintain a healthy balance :).

@CDub22
Welcome!!! Your progress on your grades are looking good! My goodness, I know how you feel about math too. Thats the class that will determine if I’ll get a 3.84 (96) GPA. The anticipation is absolutely killing me right now. XD Keep it up! :D

Welcome @cdub! Your doing pretty well right now, just keep pushing :).

I’m not sure if you said it but what sport do you play other than football?

Oh, and my school’s gpa system is A-4.0, B-3.0, C-2.0, etc. Every school does it differently though, so ask your guidance counselor if you’re curious.

@Elaina
Does your school have the three Latin honor rolls? My schools grading scale is kinda tough.

Oh yeah your GPA is a 91. I think that some colleges exclude gym class from your GPA so it’ll be different.
To calculate your GPA, add up all your class grades, and then divide them by the number of classes you added. Ex: 97+97+97= 291
291/3= 97. The GPA is 97. You divide it by three because you have 3 classes.
On a 4.0 scale you just multiply your average by 4 and divide by 100. Ex: 97*4= 388
388/100= 3.88.
This maybe different depending on your schools grading scale and if its curved or not.

Hope thus helped :)

@sk99 I think ur supposed to convert the 100 pt. averages to a 4.0 average FIRST, and then average those for your GPA.

So in his case 4.0 + 2.0 + 3.0 + 4.0 + 4.0 + 4.0 + 3.7 = 24.7 / 7

3.52 UW GPA I think.

Cause if you think about it, if you have 100, 100, 100, 100, 100, and a 58, and you added them first, then you’d have a 4.0 GPA technically (558 / 6 = 93). But a failing grade isn’t a 4.0.

Thanks for the help guys. @ElainaJulia I also play baseball.

No you don’t have to. It still depends on how his school categorize his grades. You’re supposed to add them to get the gpa on a 100 point scale and then multiply it by four because your converting it to a 4 point scale and divides by 100. I saw Preamble even do it before.

The 58 doesn’t even have to be a passing grade in order for the GPA calculation to make sense. What are you saying? The only thing that 58 would prevent someone from doing is making the Honor Roll. Sure, the 58 isn’t a 4.0/A but it’s still factored into the GPA to get that 4.0 GPA.

You can get different results on a 4.0 scale for the same GPA on a 100-point scale. It’s absolutely necessary to look at the individual course grades.

For example, if your average was 87 and you only had three grades:

87, 87, 87 (B, B, B)

Then GPA = (3 + 3 + 3) / 3 = 3.0

100, 100, 61 (A, A, F)

Then GPA = (4 + 4 + 0) / 3 = 2.7

@sciencekid I have no idea.

@cdub that’s pretty cool!

I’m glad you are all doing the gpa thing because that stuff has always confused me :)

@Hal
As i’m saying, it still depends on how his school scales his grades. That would only be the case if the system were that simple. You’re using the College Board calculation. Well thats exactly how I learned to convert it to a differnt scale. It’s ok though, it’s not like my school goes by it or anything so I could care less.

@Elaina
lol. So how does your school determine if you made honor roll? More specifically, the level of honor? I thought every school used it.
