What a shame.

We have to stand outside in the heat from 9-5. And Friday, I also have practice for a flash mob I’m doing at a local festival for Indian Independence Day from 6:30-9, so I’m going to be totally exhausted.

Wow! You guys start school really early! For us tryouts start Friday of NEXT week and school starts on the 27th

Same with us @Spiral7. Well, except for tryouts–our fall season tryouts generally occur earlier in the summer or during the spring.

Wow that’s really early, we are still in tryouts on the first day of school :((

So we actually got our schedules today so here’s the review of my first (real) day of school:

Period 1 (Acc.Pre Calc)- So I got the teacher I wanted, a teacher I had last year. This year now have smart boards for English and Math classes so I got to see how it was used. We got assigned 5 pages of homework but it’s just review type worksheets so no big deal. I give first period a thumbs up.

Period 2 (AP Chemistry)- One thing that I was surprised about was that the majority (or maybe half) of the class were sophomores like me! In my regular chemistry class very few people were freshman when I was a freshman so I found it a bit odd. The teacher seemed pretty good to me and we didn’t get any homework so thumbs up.

Period 3 (Spanish 2)- Well all we did was answer questions about ourselves in spanish and read it to the class. THe teacher also seemed nice so thumbs up.

Period 4 (PE)- In PE we just went over rules so I guess I’d give it a thumbs up but I’m still sad I won’t get to watch the announcements.

Period 5 (AP English Lang.) -The teacher wasn’t there so we just had some substitute and we just looked at our essays from last year and wrote a paragraph about what we learned in English last year. Thumbs down.

Period 6 (AP World History)- This was a very good ending to the day. The teacher went over things about the class and that’s pretty much it but I got the teacher I wanted out of the two APWH teachers so that’s good. THUMBS UP!

@dsi411

Actually super envious of all the AP’s you’re taking. I wish I could skip English 2.

I haven’t mentally prepared myself to go back to school in a week or completed any extra credit work.

1)Chemistry H
2)Lit H
3)AP Compsci
4)Pre-Calc H
5)Chinese 4H
6)AP World History

I have the 2nd most rigorous course load out of the sophomores in my grade. The first is taking AP Compsci, AP World, and AP Calc BC

I can’t take any AP"s until junior year according to my school, but I guess it’s a blessing in some ways
-Adv. Pre-calc H
-Chemistry H
-English 2 H
-U.S. World History H
-Earth and Space Science H
-Biochemistry H
-Spanish 2

I’m taking all honors classes except for Spanish so does it make up for no AP’s?? I have the most rigorous schedule in my grade since I’m taking pre-calc and all my friends are taking algebra 2. I’m always so anxious when it comes to the high school schedule. I always feel like I need to plan everything out perfectly…

I just found this thread on page 6…
We can do better than that!!

How is sophomore year for those who have started school already??

Hows my schedule?
US History
Biology
Honors LA 10
Physics
AP Comp Sci
AP Calc BC

@17Angel Looks great!! 2 APs! I wish I could take that this year but they aren’t available to sophomores at my school.

School’s been very swell I’d say. I started a week ago.

Wow you guys all start so early… We start after Labor Day!..
Got my schedule pretty recently; here’s how it looks like:
- Honors Latin 2
- AP Calculus BC
- AP Human Geography
- AP Physics 1
- AP US History
- Honors English 2
- AP Chemistry

And apparently, I can’t get lunch at school…

I finally got my schedule Tuesday!

Honors Precalc
Honors English
World History
Spanish 3
Intro to Design (engineering)
Honors Chemistry
Marching Band (first semester; colorguard)

The beginning of my day is great, then it turns eh. My Intro to Design and Chem teachers aren’t supposed to be the best.

The Marching Band music is stuck in my head; I’m tired of it already (and I first heard it last Thursday). This is not good–I’m stuck hearing that music until December.

@DigitalKing APUSH and AP Calc in 10th grade? Wow; at my school, the earliest you can take them are junior year (unless you’re crazy smart in the case of Calculus; but for that, you have to have taken the AP Calc BC test when taking Algebra II or you have to have skipped a grade of math in elementary school).

AP Calc BC (wut is dis mathy stuff)
AP World
H physics
AP Lit (favorite class probably)
Phil
random electives

@DigitalKing how tf does your school let sophomores take 5 APs…

Schools going okayish so far…96 in chem, 98 in AP World, 98 in APCS, 100 in Chinese, but math and lit I’ve probably bombed

@Yakisoba for Math, you should look at Khan Academy videos, they explain things really well, and using Sparknotes for the literature, and paperrater.com and prowritingaid.com for the writing. These sites REALLY help!!! Congrats on your other grades, I’m waiting for school to start this wednesday!! But I have volleyball tryouts starting tomorrow.

Either way wednesday will be SUPER stressful because it’s not only the day where you get lost and meet all your teachers and stuff… but it’s the last day of tryouts and that’s when you find out if you made the team…! Wish me luck!! :)
