High School Class of 2017

@vniatge‌ I feel the same thing. I took Bio H as a freshman. We have this preresquisite thing and you can only self-study one thing so… My courses are advanced for my grade so I don’t know

Freshman Year
Biology H
Freshman English H
Health and Fitness (requirement)
Computer Essentials (requirement)
US History I H
Algebra 2 H
Geometry H
Spanish 2 H

Sophmore Year
Chemistry H
Sophmore English H
Health & Fitness (requirement)
AP US History
PreCalculus H
Spanish 3 H
Physics H
Study Hall/Empty open class…

The Rate My Schedule threads are likely to give better feedback than recently minted sophomores who don’t really understand the college admissions game that well as compared to the seniors of the other threads

Is there a Class of 2018 thread? If so, I’m surprised they don’t post more. I’d imagine the freshmen on here to be very enthusiastic about starting school.

@Apollo11 Most of the students on the same math track as me take Linear Algebra Senior Year and Dual Enrollment for Junior year, but if linear algebra doesn’t require more more than AP Calc, I think I might consider it. Haha thank you for the notion. :-)

Is there really any point in self-studying an AP, other than because the subject is interesting? Many top colleges don’t accept AP credit, and the test scores don’t help you with admissions.

@bandicoot12 is the highest math that is taught at your school AP Calc?

@bandicoot12‌
Linear Algebra can easily be done with Pre-Calc level knowledge and Differential Equations could be feasible with AP Calc. Abstract Algebra and Multivariable Calc would be the year after and then you’d be doing senior or graduate level math

Well in my program it’s

AP Calc BC -> Multivariable -> multivariable integral -> Linear algebra -> diff. equations -> real analysis -> complex analysis.
The courses after the first are semester-long, the order is somewhat flexible, and honestly, barely anyone actually gets to them.

Well, I guess I’m late to this party, but who’s ready for sophomore year? Still haven’t registered for school yet.

I need my schedule! I actually can’t wait!

I didn’t even know this thread existed. It’s really dead…

But never mind that, I just really hope I get good teachers for next year. Sophomore and Junior year are when it really matters.

I know, right? Why is this the only Class of ____ thread that isn’t active? I think it’s cause us 2017-ers are too cool for school. (Sorry. I try too hard).

Anyways, I know all of my teachers except for my Chemistry one, which is ‘unknown’ as of now. I got one of the greatest teachers at the school as my newspaper adviser. My history teacher is known as one of the worst teachers at the school, but I’m determined to remain open-minded about all my teachers. The rest seem to be pretty good or just okay, so I’m thankful.

My school doesn’t give us our schedule until the third day of school and I hate that! The first day (August 13th) is modified and it’s just an annoying pep rally and the second day we just watch videos about the school and do “fun” activities. I just want to know who my teachers are already!

I get my teachers next week–I hope I get good ones, or at least the better out of two bad ones (as is the case for Honors Chem at my school).

@MissSuzyQ You’re really lucky to be part of the newspaper. I tried to get into our school’s, but I botched the interview. There were 15 people staring straight at me, showing no emotion, and I tend to hyperventilate in stressful situations. I spent a week on the sample article D: And some people who got in only applied because their parents made them (“it looks good on college applications”), while others had their parents write the whole article or advise them on their application.

@dsi411 That’s… strange. I really hate pep rallies, although our school tries our best to make them interesting. I think our first one is generally Homecoming week–at least now we aren’t freshmen anymore!

@topaz116 , I’m so sorry to hear about the botched interview. I feel I would do similarly if there had been a formal interviewing process in my application. Instead, they ask for three teacher recommendations and an essay. I’m wary of social situations, so I completely feel for you. But since I took the Intro to Communications pre requisite to Newspaper and earned an A, I was sort of a shoe-in. I find it infuriating that people who apply to be on the newspaper staff because it “looks good for college” got in instead of you. I, personally, am elated to be a part of the staff and am getting excited just thinking about it. Good luck with any future endeavors concerning Newspaper!

oh god, already realized my sophomore year is gonna be hell. The first day of school just passed, but I had to start working at 4PM and am still working now, w/ negligible amount of procrastination, surprisingly

Ouch.

Dean messed up my schedule…and I doubt he will fix it :frowning:

Try asking your GC?

Wow the first day of school was a lot better than I expected!

Yay! Ugh, I have Band Camp starting tomorrow. That’s not going to be fun. At all.
