You guys have no idea how awesome it is to go to a crappy school for this (and only this reason). I have what would seem to be a ridiculous course load (i don’t want to repost it, but it’s somewhere on this thread) and I don’t get any work. I don’t mean to humblebrag, but it’s absolutely amazing!
(Although I would much rather go to a good school… if you go to a good school, you have no idea how difficult it is to deal with idiocy on a VERY regular basis.)

I come home at seven some days because of Colorguard, and on top of that, my teachers don’t seem to realize that we have other classes as well. And I’m basically failing Chem (hahaha my teacher takes off 10% if you don’t write the date properly) and Precalc (whoops I did really badly on the first quiz).

@DigitalKing I feel sorry for you. I had to deal with idiocy for my Health/Geography class last year, and it was horrible. I had like, two friends in the class, and when I had to work on projects, I ended up doing all the work.

@topaz1116 I know that feeling… There’s more than one reason I decided not to take any of the “mandatory” classes this year.

@DigitalKing Hah, I only have one mandatory for which I can’t take an honors course, and I feel like they somehow made a smart class? My teacher is only teaching one period of that class, and I feel like there are a lot more smart people than usual in the class (like, we’ve got 2 or 3 of the smartest people in the grade).

But next year, I’ll be taking a CP class for which there’s an AP available; that’ll be really annoying.

@topaz1116 aren’t CPs of a particular subject the prereq of said subject?

For example, CP Bio is a prereq of AP Bio

For us, we have CP Bio or Honors Bio for ninth grade science, and CP Chem or Honors Chem for tenth grade. Bio and Chem are prereqs for any other science courses offered (except for Anatomy/Physiology; for that you only have to take Bio). So I’ll be taking AP Bio senior year, and AP Chem junior year (or however I decide to schedule them).

For most other courses, however, they’re just basic courses: US History is a core req, so we can take either APUSH or CPUSH.

Wow, I’m surprised, they actually did notify us of the PSAT. Counseling just sent a remind 101 text to us saying to sign up for the PSAT, it’s $25. I guess I need to ask my parents for $25 now.

For us, signups are in October. I hope I’ll be able to get a spot; sophomores sign up the day after the juniors (whom I assume will all be taking the test).

Apparently spots are limited for us so we have to sign up as soon as possible. Hopefully I’ll actually remember to go to the bookkeeper on Monday. I always forget these type of things.

My chemistry doesn’t teach anything I’m not even kidding she doesn’t even know how to do dimensional analysis it’s pathetic. I had to teach her how to do it. I was planning on taking the chemistry sat subject test but maybe it’s not a good idea. Can I just self study the sat subject test?

Maybe I’ll actually study for the PSAT this year…

@Mebehold My chemistry teacher was horrible too, she won’t frikin change your grade from an error mistake she made in grading test papers because apparently its “too time-consuming”. Its better if you take AP chemistry or some sort of college level class in chemistry first so you’ll be better prepared for that SAT subject test for chemistry (it will insure you a higher score too). You could probably self-study but that would be harder than taking a regular college course on that subject.

I think that Chemistry may just be a hard subject to teach. Our school’s lowest testing scores are always in Chemistry and whenever I hear people talk about their Chemistry teachers at my school they always say they are horrible and there are at least 5 different Chemistry teachers.

How are you all planning on studying for the PSAT? I’ve never taken it before.

Also it’s my birthday today. I am now 15. I just thought I’d let you all know that.

Happy Birthday, then!

Our nonhonors chem teachers are good, but our honors chem teachers suck. One of them’s really obsessed with organization, and the other one just doesn’t teach… Our AP Chem department is good, but very, very hard.

I’m probably going to go over some of my sister’s old SAT vocab workbooks and sheets, since that’s the main part I’m worried about. I tend to do very well on practice SAT math sections, so hopefully the PSAT will be the same (and I’ve heard that they include more concepts on the SAT math). I do really bad on CR, though, so that’s my main concern.

@dsi411 HaPpY BiRtHdAy!!!

Guys I don’t know how to study for the PSATs BUT

I would encourage ALL of you to use this site
http://www.vocabulary.com/

It actually is good at teaching you vocab…

@topaz1116 Didn’t respond to you but yeah I guess I am. I’m moving to a smaller school after 10th grade, if I get in. It will be a focus math and science school. I got lucky with Physics. APUSH is hell, not really actually cause I love the teacher. And that sucks with your math grade. Not to brag, but they started the year with Transformations (which is Alg 2) so I just got As on them…

I’m going to do SciOlymp but not Math Team this year (it was hell). Playing basketball. I was thinking of doing Robotics but its the time thing.
