High School Class of 2017

HAPPY BIRTHDAY @dsi411‌

I turned 15 over the summer.

We were supposed to have an open book test on Friday in AP World History but we ran out of time so my teacher gave it to us as a take-home test. Do you think we are allowed to use the book? He didn’t say and I don’t want to cheat.

@dsi411 happy birthday!

I found that the math curve was pretty harsh last year (3 wrong, 70). CR was fairly easy since I read a lot (I spent some time on freerice.com too). I got one wrong and still got an 80. I bombed writing since I have really bad grammar ;)

IMO, trying to get old PSAT booklets would help the most.

@livelaugh7 For us, it wasn’t so much the difficulty of the material (it’s really easy) as the fact that we weren’t given enough time. I couldn’t check my answers and had to rush through all the problems (I spent too much time on a problem that really wasn’t very hard, but for which I couldn’t think of the solution at that point). However, now that I know the style of the tests that the teacher who’s writing them writes (all the Honors Precalc classes share the same tests), I’ll probably do better.

We have one teacher for CP Chem, AP Chem, and CP Physics… XD She’s on maternity leave currently, but I’ve been told great things about her. The substitute is pretty dry and appears to be out of experience with teaching, or just isn’t very good at teaching or explaining things.

@dsi411 I would assume so… If you’re not, and it’s that easy to “cheat,” your teacher probably just doesn’t care anyways.

Okay @ThatOneWeirdGuy‌,thanks.

@topaz1116‌ Well that’s good. All the tests at my school have certain time limits and such. I’m also just really quick at doing math. Good luck!!!

@dsi411‌ I think that you should do your best not to use it. Its supposed to not only prep you for the AP exam but a more truthful grade. But if your so stuck on something, maybe a peek won’t hurt if the teacher didn’t care to specify

Do any of you feel incompetent and less intelligent compared to your peers in some ways, but then find yourself to be idly exceeding them in others? Do you ever feel as though you won’t be able to live out future ambitions due to your perceived incompetence?

This definitely does not apply to me whatsoever and I’m just asking out of the blue.

@ThatOneWeirdGuy‌

At times I feel like I am less intelligent, especially in the English field. But then I think of all the things I can do and the struggle it has been to learn English as a second language and the level I am at now and I feel much better, more competent. Sometimes I feel like I won’t live up to my ridiculous ambitions and goals, but not because I’m incompetent.

So sometimes, just depends.

@xxvintagexx‌ the highest chemistry class we have at my school is honors chemistry because my school does not have the lab facilities for AP Chem, otherwise we would have it. I really wish I had the opportunity to take it with the teacher who teaches all the AP science classes (except environmental) but we can’t. It’s so annoying this teacher literally sits there and just pets her weave and strokes it like a cat. How do I have a chance at getting 750+ on the subject test if my teacher doesn’t even know anything?

Hey is any other sophomore taking AP human geo (it’s usually a freshman AP but my school didn’t let any freshman take AP classes until this year)? My teacher is only on chapter 2/13 and I’m pretty sure we need to be done more quickly in time for the AP test is anyone else experiencing slow teachers or has, and how to deal with it?

@Mebehold‌ No, but I took it last year.

Any tips on writing AP essays — especially for history???

@livelaugh7‌ Do you practice them a lot in class? That is the best way to get good at them, I think. We’ve done four essays so far in AP World History and I already have an idea of what the essays will be like on the real AP exam.

thank god my parents dont push me to do as many ECs as possible lol. i think im in like one or two clubs and no band that’s it :)>-

Is anyone else here taking Calc BC? If so, what books are you guys using to study?

UGHHH!!! My Chinese project partner didn’t memorize her lines for our oral presentation and now we have to go tomorrow, and will probably get points taken off!!! I’m so mad!!! Plus I will have her as my partner for the rest of the year… and she knows nothing!! She gets off topic so easily too! Grrrrrr…

AND my Spanish teacher gave our participation grades for last week… she grades it by how many times we answer a question in class. I was out of class one day last week. So I got an 86. Not fair! She should have divided by number of days present…! Not 5 for everyone! GRRR…

@Spiral7‌ You should help her.

@dsi411‌ I am currently tutoring 3 kids in 2 classes each, this girl is a senior, she takes it like a joke, she is unreachable and not worth my time. If she cared about it, I would help.
