2370 at 13? Sheesh. What do you want to major in?

2370 at 13 is the mark of a genius!

@sg12909: Haha, I got (690 R, 690 W, 420 M) Don’t kill me because of my awful math score-amazingly, I got all the Geometry problems right! My only problem was the rest… It is rather ironic, isn’t it?

@tomatotox1: I’m an Asian female; I’m going to forget about applying to Ivy League! It’ll be next to impossible at my current state. Besides, I’m rather fond of the middle-of-nowhere, not as well known liberal arts college. :)

I’m an asian male who likes to listen to KPOP and knows more guy groups than girl groups which my sister thinks its odd. Sterotypically the Asian Male X:

@Kysanx: Super Junior? Girl’s Generation? …I dabble in KPOP as well.

@GoldenRatio My sister is the owner of Soshified [The website of Girls Generation] I grew fond of them. Sorry Sorry <3 Have you heard of BEAST, VIXX, BAP, and other groups? Ke Ke Ke. I really love VIXX!

@Kysanx: Ohmyohmyohmyohmyohmy, your sister owns Soshified?! Yes, I have heard of all of the above; sorry sorry! Haha, the first KPOP group I was ever exposed to was VIXX.

Really off-topic here: Did any of your schools make Harlem Shake videos with the students/staff?

But relating to off-topic, I see people somehow got into Kpop discussions…
Just pointing that out, carry on.

I would like to ask you guys about the topic of French vs Spanish. I want to know what I should learn in High School. I’ve been thinking about French because I like the language itself but Spanish is something that everyone should know in the USA…

tomatox1: Female Hispanic, here!

TheApplier: My school announced today that we’re going to film one starting on Wednesday. :)

Kysanx: Luckily, Spanish is my first language and I began to learn English very early on (I love to read) so I’m extremely fluent in both. If I were in your situation, I would pick Spanish (but I may be biased here). ;)

My old school made one, but they were too stupid to actually make a video online… lol

@Kysanx

I am personally taking French and I enjoy it a lot. It’s a really fun language to learn, and if you think about it, colleges want to see passion of learning what YOU enjoy. If you think French is a good language to learn, follow your passion and take it! I was in the same toss-up in 6th grade (we start learning languages early in our district- 7th grade), but I decided to take French and it is extremely fun. I have a really really good teacher though, so that might make a difference when you’re thinking about what language to take as well. I’m not saying Spanish is bad; I’m just saying that if you like French as a language, take it!

@goldenratio I mostly listen to mainstream, although I only like a few of the songs/albums. I also listen to 70s and 80s stuff like Queen and the Beatles during their Sgt. Pepper days.
About the Harlem shake craze, another swim team at our recent statewide championship actually filmed one. Most of us were staring at them like they were crazy. Which they might be.

@TheApplier Thanks for the advice! Is there anything confusing about French as it’s oral and its grammar part?

My town is very sheltered; no Harlem Shake for us!

I would personally pick French because I’ve been taking it for a while! ;)

I live in the tiny hamlet of Las Vegas.
Kysanx, I think you should learn Spanish if you live in the lower/western parts of the US, and French if you live in the north/northeast.

@sg12909: I live in Florida XD

Is there a significant Hispanic population?

@Kysanx

It depends if you’re good at picking up languages. I would say I’m pretty good at picking up languages, so I find French easy and fun at the same time. Obviously, it’s not going to stay that way by the time I get to AP (It’ll be fun; just not easy, but the same goes for all languages) I think the only think that you may find hard when you first start learning French is conjugating verbs, which means changing it into different participles/forms. For example, in English, for the verb “to be”, our conjugations are “I am, you are, he is, she is, we are, etc.” In French, it would be “Je suis, tu es, Il est, Elle est, Nous sommes, etc.” So you’re going to want to memorize the rules of conjugation (which your teacher will probably go over in detail, as it’s very important as a base for French; the rules get pretty easy once you start learning a lot of verbs.) The only other annoying thing in French would be that every single object gets a “gender”, so you need to know if the object is “male” or “female” because you need to know whether to say it’s “un " or "une ”. That’s purely memorization (There are some rules; for example MOST things that end in an -e are female, but there are exceptions…) . Other than that, the language is very interesting to learn.

I hate genders. Half the time, they don’t even make any sense. >_< But there are helpful “hints,” if you may! It’s also a lot of memorization, but you can easily manipulate it all to make it fun (I draw comics to remember hard vocabulary or sentence structure.)

This is coming from an average linguist (I don’t soak up languages like a sponge, but I am good enough!)

My school wants to make a Harlem Shake video as a senior prank, but I think it’s sooo stupid
