GoldenRatio: Yes, I am in the 8th grade just like you. :)

sg12909: Congrats on qualifying! I’ve never heard of it before but it’s probably very difficult to earn.

sg12909: Congrats on qualifying! I’ve never heard of it before but it’s probably very difficult to earn.

Thanks. It actually isn’t too bad. 700+ on the SAT CR or M when you’re still 12. I qualified two years ago, and still haven’t filled out the form. I am very much an expert at procrastination.

Wait? Really? Then I was 10 points off from qualifying (690 R, 690 W, 420 M) I know, my math score was horrible. But I was in Pre-Algebra back then, and they almost made me repeat it again this year.

I feel your pain. I was only twenty points off of it for both math and reading (680 & 680 I think). All of my math genius friends qualified for it though. I personally know five good friends who have gotten a 750+ and one boy who got a perfect 800! That is, in math.

@Jabeerwocky: Wow. Just…wow.

I qualified with a 730 in math, but I’m actually more humanities-inclined (36s in ACT English and Reading). I wonder whether the SAT critical reading is harder? I got a 770 this Jan, though.

sg12909: I’ve never taken the SAT before and I don’t plan to take it before junior year unless I have to take it to qualify for a summer program or scholarship. Studying for the SAT now would be unnecessary stress for me. :)

Does anyone know what levels of math are tested on the SAT (Algebra, Algebra II, Geometry, etc.)?

I believe Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and maybe the barest dash of Algebra II are tested in the SAT. I don’t really remember. XP

Quite a bit of Algebra II, actually. Some data interpretation and graphing too.

@sg12909: Really? Oh, whoops, forgive my muddled mind. It only recalls a blur of unsolvable equations, and cool shape questions I actually solved correctly. :P

800 Math 790 CR (1 wrong lol) 780 Writing (1 wrong 10 essay) (2370) :)

I guess I’ll spend the summer doing 300+ hours of community service. Next summer I plan to apply to RSI or something similar, and the next I plan to get a job and work a ton of hours while simultaneously taking Calculus 2 at a community college (Junior Year I’m only taking 5 academic classes so I’ll take Real Analysis or equivalent). Then my final summer from Junior-Senior I plan to go study whatever’s beyond Real Analysis and while also doing something else related to computer programming (undecided as of yet) that might be related somehow to fundraising :D

Did you take the ACT too Derek?

No. I might take the ACT if the SAT changes and the colleges don’t accept the old SAT any more. It doesn’t look like a very difficult test, although I could be wrong.

How did you do on the SAT @goldenratio? Ironically, I mostly missed the pre-algebra problems and got the fun but harder geometry ones

tomatox1: It would suck if colleges didn’t accept your near perfect score because of some changes. Best of luck getting into RSI (I plan to apply when the time comes).

The ACT English and Reading sections are easy for me. I suppose you could say that the reading is similar to the SAT’s critical reading passage part, but more structured. The math goes up into trig identities, so I didn’t bother studying. For science, I mainly needed to practice but didn’t have time, so I didn’t study for that either. But if you’re mathematically inclined (unlike me), it should be pretty easy.

I kinda hope that the SAT will add passage analysis and interpretation or something like that. That’s what I’m good at. Although you can see anything in anything, as long as you look hard enough (hence the Illuminati crazies spamming the Youtube comment sections).

just out of curiosity, what are your ethnicities and/or genders?

stereotypical asian male reporting in :D

Asian female. It’s going to be hard to get into an Ivy League. Although I could always swim for them, I suppose.
PS: Are you 13 or 14? I’m going to assume you’re not 17 like your profile says and haven’t been held back 3-4 years.

Yes I’m thirteen. When I made the account I was 12 so I didn’t think they’d let me make an account, among other reasons.
