well, I took 2 tests today, a polynomials test for algebra 2 and a unit test for AP World.
I got a 96% on the AP World test bringing my grade to an 89%
but I bombed my alg test and now I have an F. :((
oh well, as long as I don’t flunk the midterm I’ll come out with a C
@frazzledazzle Thanks for the info! I’ll try and see if there is another AP class I could take, probably AP Economics. I’ll still probably do AP Chemistry, but I’ll AP Biology senior year. If not then I’ll only do AP Chemistry next year. God I can’t even imagine how I’m going to survive mentally the next couple years. I don’t have to make any decision on next year’s classes until April. I asked some seniors in my homeroom and they said not to worry about it since I’m only a sophomore and they’re right. I always hate how I put pressure myself. Sometimes I can be my own worst enemy.
For anyone who’s taken AP Economics: How hard is it?
And also, how many AP classes do you guys plan to take and what are they? This is just out of curiosity.
@Phantomlink I have a B in Algebra II. My original teacher, we have had a sub since the middle of September, is coming back from maternity leave. I just got back my quiz, which I got a 70 on because the directions seemed unclear and I was so mad
Guys I’m just so stressed out because I haven’t taken any APs yet, and I have a B- in geometry with all my other grades in the 90s. I have such high goals such as ivies and other top colleges, but I feel like I’m nowhere near good enough. I just feel stuck because I’m trying my hardest and I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’m planning on taking 2 or 3 APs next year, and I’m currently on the track to
@ak2018 Right now I am in AP Biology, as you know. Next year I plan on taking AP Language and AP US History. Senior year, I plan on taking AP Literature, AP World History, AP Physics, AP French, and maybe AP Stats.
@waterfall27 I can help you with Geometry, also. I’m having the same mindset, too, at the moment. If you ever want to talk/vent about college and goals, I’m here.
@aspiringgirl yeah! I am pretty active in a lot of clubs but I don’t have a set friend group yet… I don’t know if my standards are just too high or if I’m just not lucky with finding people who are similar to me. I have a couple friends here and there but I usually eat by myself. Also, colorguard sounds so fun! I used to be in middle school guard and I remember it being pretty awesome.
@ak2018 I have definitely hit that point. @raffie I don’t have a set friend group either I guess. Colorguard is so fun, but at my school it has soooooooooooooooooo much drama, and I spend more time at practice than I do spend time doing my homework. This is my last semester of it. Ever.
Hello fellow sophomores! I’ve recently gotten a slightly unhealthy obsession with college this year, leading me to here, where I often go to the chance-me forum and cry. ;u;
@BucketsUCSC You should be able to access your PSAT score January 7th online, according to College Board. Is this wrong? I hope not because I’m looking forward to seeing my results way too much for someone who probably got a 0 on the math section.
@ak2018 I’m going to be taking AP Gov next semester. Junior year I’m planning on taking APUSH and AP Lang. I’m not as certain for my senior year, but I’m considering AP Lit, AP Euro, and maybe AP Psych, if I do well in the Intro to Psychology course I’m taking next semester. No math or science courses, I’d fall flat on my face. My school doesn’t have AP Latin, but I’d definitely look into that if it were an option.
What are you guys doing for ECs? I’m in a few community service and social-awareness clubs, and I started swim team this year. My problem is that I have yet to do any actual volunteering, and social anxiety makes getting leadership positions nigh-impossible.
Also, is anyone considering majors yet? I think I’d like history, but I’m worried about limited job opportunities.
@LeopardFire I wouldn’t recommend looking at the chance me forums.
I have so many ECs. I’ll type them tomorrow because I have to go to get up early for Science Olympiad tomorrow.
Hey guys been awhile. I’m stressing out with grades soooo much. I see so many kids on here getting 4.0’s on their semester average. I can only get a 3.5 (90%). I just don’t know how much harder I can work!!! I don’t know where to improve. Our school challenges us, so it is hard to get above a 90 on an essay or art project. I am also balancing three sports and two leadership things. I hope colleges understand. And I also had a bad freshman year GPA (3.1).
@waterfall27 I’m in the same boat as you. I want to go to my state’s two most top colleges, UVA and Virginia Tech, and getting accepted usually requires really high grades and a tough workload. I haven’t taken any AP’s as well and I don’t know what I’m going to do next year. I’m also going to take a Geometry EOC test on Monday. So, I could also help you out with Geometry. Also, if you want to talk about anything college-related, like @frazzledazzle said, I’m also here if you want to talk. I’ve been practically been researching anything I can find on the college experience.
@raffie I’m in the same situation when it comes to the whole friends thing. I have a lot of different friends from a lot of different cliques and I don’t know where I really belong. I guess I just am a little of each.
@aspiringgirl There isn’t as much drama with Color Guard at my school. In fact, I think there are only 12 people in there. Maybe you should come to our school. Based on the Pep Rally we had in October, the Color Guard seems pretty good.
@LeopardFire If I have learned anything from being on CC the past year it is that you should NEVER LOOK AT THE CHANCE ME POSTS. The people who post on there are mainly seniors going to Ivy-league schools, or at least should be. And I can relate to having social anxiety, I’ve had it since the 7th grade and it honestly sucks.
And then major I’m considering is Mechanical Engineering, hence why I’m taking all of these science classes. I just it will be all worth it if I get accepted to Virginia Tech.
@apple1893 my school’s gpa system is that A+, A, and A- are all 4.0 but since my school is like that it’s not really special to get a 4.0-- colleges will consider your gpa among other people at your school so if it’s hard for you it’s hard for everyone.
@BucketsUCSC I hope that isn’t the case. I thought we were supposed to get them the 10th of this month.
@LeopardFire I have a decent amount of ECs. I’m in the school band, jazz band, student council, math team, class council, outing club, science bowl, and french club.
@waterfall27@ak2018 I am the person my friends/classmates in my Career class go to for college info.
@LepoardFire Yeah don’t look at the chance me posts. Also don’t stress so much about ECs. Just do what you enjoy doing and your passion will show through to adcomms. It’s definatley quality over quantity.
I’m doing horseback riding and showing (which takes the bulk of my time), FCA, French Club (which is a joke), and plan on volunteering some very soon (as soon as the people contact me back…).
I’m intrested in majoring in biology and being pre-med
Guys I got an email from my counselors telling us that we would have the PSAT score review night on february 4th as opposed to january 5th like initially planned but i hope we would be able to access our scores before online if you guys would know how to do that tell me please
So guys today, I got to thinking. For the past week I’ve been so stressed out about taking all the AP classes and I honestly hate it. So now, I’m trying to head back in the game. I was thinking and then I had a great idea. Instead of taking some many AP classes, why not take some classes that would show Virginia Tech, my dream school, how much I love Engineering, Robotics, and STEM in general. So I did this, and now I am proud to say that I like the latest updates I have made to my schedules. It looks like it will give me much more flexibility and I’m actually confident that I will do well and won’t stress out. Plus, I get to take two Engineering classes. If anyone has any comments they would lik to share, feel free. I would especially love it if @frazzledazzle and maybe even @chuy could see this. @chuy is a guy I see in the Virginia Tech forums from time to time and if you’re reading this, I hope you comment too and maybe tell me if this seems like a good idea or not.
