High School Class of 2018

@LosingCrayon We have mid-terms at the end of the semester - which is around mid-January.

@IAmNotCreativ That’s what I thought. Thank you!

@singingwriting I’m pretty good myself. Our last day before break is next Friday. I also have to finish 1984 by next Thursday. I also have a test in history this Thursday, the day after tomorrow. We’re probably going to have another math test next week, I don’t know when. So yeah, I have a test in History, Math, Chemistry, and English. I guess I am pretty busy. I also have 1 A, 5 B’s, and 1 C (in English) right now.

Wish me luck on this AP Euro SAQ and MC test in a couple hours.

Good luck @singingwriting I could not imagine taking an AP test this, as I am not taking one. I heard AP Euro is hard.

Random question, how much sleep does you guys get? I usually sleep right after school for 5 - 6 hours and wake up between 9pm and 1am, depending on when I get home. Then I do my homework when I wake up and it’s worked for me for the last 3 years.

@ak2018 I usually sleep from 11:30pm-5:00am on weekdays and 11:30pm-11:30am on weekends

@ak2018 I usually sleep from 11-11:30 pm to 7 am, and I do sometimes take a nap after I get home from school. So I’d put my total at 8-10 hrs. I’ve always been a person who sleeps a lot. My parents told me when I was like really young they had to wake me up on Christmas morning because I slept until 11 lol. I need my beauty rest!

Same @Madeline25 I use to hate going to bed when I was young and now it’s something I wish I could do more often. Boy have times changed :(( If AP Sleeping was a class, I would so pass! :))

@Madeline25 Haha, same here. I like how everyone now is complaining about how over a third of their lives they will be sleeping so they only sleep 3 hours a night. I don’t know how they function. I wish I could sleep like 10 hours a day, but I kind of have a busy schedule. Can’t wait till break so I can sleep in lol.

@singingwriting Hey, how did you do on that AP euro test? Hope all went well. :-bd

I got a 95%! On the homework I turned in though the teacher thought it was crap so my grades over all went down.
I got 7? hours last night. I usually get around that or more.

@singingwriting Well I hope they didn’t go down too much.

Also, yesterday, I went to the guidance office and my counselor and found that there are no AP Computer Science classes this year due to low enrollment. This changes my schedule big time! :(( I would really appreciate it if anyone would take a look at my new schedule and answer my question.

Junior Year

Elective: Principles of Engineering

Extra Elective (Since we only have two years of PE, I’ll take Health and PE II online): AP Computer Science Principles or AP Computer Science A.
But if there is low enrollment then I will take AP Biology.

Science: AP Chemistry

History: US and Virginia History (I’m from Virginia)

Math: Functions/Trigonometry (Pre-Calculus)

Foreign Language: Spanish II

English: English 11

Online Classes: Health and PE II and World History II

Senior Year

Elective: Programming

Extra Elective: AP Computer Science Principles or AP Computer Science A (Which ever one I didn’t take junior year)
But if there is low enrollment then I will take AP Statistics

Science: Advanced Earth Science

Social Studies: U.S. and Virginia Government

Math: AP Calculus AB

Economics (Since I’ll be finished taking Spanish): AP Economics

English: English 12

There was low enrollment this year likely due to how hard AP Computer Science is and the fact that they can’t find a good teacher. So it is likely I will have to AP Bio and Stats. Does anyone have advice for taking two science classes in a year? Also, is it possible to take AP Biology without Honors Biology, I tested out of it? Has anyone take AP Statistics? It it easy? Thanks!

it is possible to take AP Bio with out taking honors biology. I took AP Bio in 9th grade, but i was the only freshman taking it at both of my school. (I transferred schools near the end of the year).

@aspiringgirl Thanks!

@ak2018
Don’t take AP Bio and AP Chem at the same time because both of those classes are not easy and you are going to be taking multiple online courses. Take AP Stats as a junior and AP Bio as a senior.

@IAmNotCreativ I know they’re hard. And I won’t be taking any online classes until the spring semester of junior year. And it will only be one course, Health and PE II. I’ll take World History II over the summer after junior year. I’ll will however debate what you said about taking AP Statistics instead of AP Bio, since I’m going to finish Algebra II this year.

@aspiringgirl how did you adjust to your new school? I transferred this year and I’m still not fitting in ):

@raffie I joined band(Color Guard to be exact). I had them them introduce me to their friends and so on. I am also active and an officer of many clubs, so that helps also. I’m still having a hard time finding my place because I had a fall out with 2 people that I became very close with. I have a job really close to my school, so maybe like 5 other 15-year-olds work there and I met them and we always have fun. So my advice is to join clubs and athletic that you like, and you’ll find awesome people. The bad thing about colorguard for me is that there is so much drama since there are about 49 girls on the team, and if you get into an argument with one person they try to bring all of there friends into it. Rants more about girl drama problems I know a lot of people now because of my clubs, or me being a little more outgoing and funny in class. I HOPE THIS HELPED! :slight_smile:

Is anyone at that point in the year where you honestly don’t care? I’m at that point. So yesterday I talked to my Chemistry teacher and she said that based on my grade, which is a B right now, it might not be best to take AP Chem or more than one or two AP classes a year. What she said was right, I am stressing about taking AP classes and getting into college, and I’m only a sophomore. I’m putting a lot of pressure myself lately and I honestly don’t know what to do. I want to take Engineering at Virginia Tech, but at this point I might settle for GMU.

@ak2018 I am at that point. I got behind in my classes early this week when I wasn’t feeling well, and have been out sick yesterday and today. I was just like “screw it” at the beginning of the week, but now I’m feeling like I need to get my rear in gear since mid-quarter is today. I would suggest not taking AP Bio and AP Chem at the same time. I am taking AP Bio this year, and it is seriously one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. I’m glad I am only in 1 AP class this year, because, if I was in more, I probably would have done horribly.

I typically sleep from 11pm/12am to 6:30-7am. On Saturdays I sleep in until 7:45am and go to bed at 10:30pm. Sundays I sleep in until 10:30-11:30am, depending on how tired I am.
