What is everyone planning to do in the summer?
@stanford200381 I’m taking Biology H to get ahead on the science track, and to ensure that the APs I’m interested in taking don’t get all crowded around junior and senior year (no APs are offered to freshmen or sophomores…) I also applied for a volunteering program at the Drexel Natural Sciences museum, and I am looking forward to that.
Besides the academic portion, I’m also going to China to visit my grandparents, hangout with my friends (we are agreeing that we should go to one of my friend’s pool [he’s the only one I am friends with that has a pool, AND CHICKENS!!!], go to the amusement park, and go to central Philly).
I’m going to sleep-in, eat junk food, and watch movies on my relaxation days, maybe even just not get out of bed at all.
@raventhemage You make me feel like I’m not doing anything this summer! I’m basically just volunteering at a hospital, going over material for next years classes, and going to Florida.
Have you ever been to China before? That sounds really fun!
@stanford200381 Naw, it’s just the things I’m foreseeing for the future. We are doing practically the same thing (doing schoolwork, volunteering, and vacationing)
Yes, I’ve been to China several times, all for visiting family XD, I have a very large extended family.
What are y’all’s favorite subjects?
Mine would be science… I think it’s just so interesting, finding out how the world works. Next in line is Spanish, which I have a knack for, and is just fun overall.
@raventhemage science is my favorite subject also! I’ve wanted to be a scientist since I don’t even know, like 3rd grade? I can’t wait for biology next year.
Social studies is my favorite subject. I just have a knack for history.
My favorite subject is science too! I want to do something medical but I’m not exactly sure what yet
@CavsFan2003 that’s cool! I’ve never been a reallly big history person.
@AbsKelsay I’ve always had an interest with the brain so I’ve known what I wanted to do, just can’t pick between three things!
My schedule was finalized today, my school district I’m in currently made me make a schedule even though I’m going to a STEM school next year. They said just in case it doesn’t work out so here is my schedule:
Honors physical science
Honors algebra 1
Honors American history
Honors English 9
French 1
Computer apps for business
Computer science 1
Probably won’t be going to this school though, especially since they make us take physical science freshman year so I won’t get to take AP bio.
Howdy! I’m part of the class of 2021 also
When do y’all start your freshman year? I start early-mid August.
@BGgraph I’m honestly not sure, but welcome! Glad to have more 21ers, there’s not much here yet.
Pretty average schedule @stanford200381
My school doesn’t even allow freshman to be in algebra and physical science.
@Bobbybob444555 Why aren’t they allowed? That is the hardest schedule that school offers besides the algebra 1, but that was because I had surgery so I didn’t get to take algebra 1 this year.
To enter my hs, students are required to take physical science and algebra 1 prior to entry
@Bobbybob444555 I wish mine did that , physical science is required for freshman and algebra 1 depends on your 7th grade math grade.
@BGraph I start HS on September 4th.
@Bobbybob444555 @stanford200381 Our high schools and middle schools are pretty disconnected, class-wise, but the 8th grade science curriculum is physical science, and the “normal” track in our school has people finish algebra 1 in 8th grade while the “advanced” math track has people finish geometry in 8th grade. Since my high school is public, there are no requirements for entry, but the honors classes require an A or B in middle school classes of the same subject.
@raventhemage @stanford200381 My school is public, but is very selective. It is one of the best in the state, so they’d need some entry requirements. And you. guys are fine, you could always take geometry over the summer, since geometry isn’t really important. I’m class of 2020 if you guys didn’t know
