High School Course help?

Hi, I am a sophomore going into my junior year, and I just picked out my schedule and I am not sure if it is good. I want to do as many rigorous courses that I can not only challenge myself, but also show colleges. Sadly I go to a very small school where not many opportunities and not very good classes are. What I want to major in college is in the health profession, I will most likely go for Nursing, Pre- Med, or a basic health such as public health, or communication and disorders. Here is my schedule SO FAR

  1. Gym/ Chem Lab (Every Other Day)
  2. Chemistry
  3. Mythology and Film (Forced to take because I did all other electives offered at that period)
  4. French III
  5. Lunch/ Study Hall ( 20 min each)
  6. Drivers Ed first semester, and health the second semester
  7. English 11
  8. AP/ College US History
  9. Trig/ A2

As seen, i have to take basic classes. So my question is are my classes good enough? Should I take out my third period and do conceptual biology, even though it is just an elective, not a college class? OR should I take the 3rd period out and put a study hall or reading hall and self-study an AP class. My School offers AP classes online and I would want to do Psychology, but I would also like to do at least one more AP class for my junior year, I am willing to self-study them myself, so I ask for the best AP class I should self-study for a health-related career. I also live in NY. Once again my class only offers two otehr AP classes that i cannot take because of where they are placed.

Are any of these classes honors? If not (and assuming it is offered in your school), I would definitely recommend doing at least Chemistry Honors ) since chemistry is important for a medical field. Also, taking Algebra 2 Honors might be a good idea.

You could do conceptual biology your third period as it is related to your future career plans, but taking two science courses at once may be difficult (especially since you’ll already have chem). If you think you can handle it, then by all means, take it.

Though, unless you have an interest in the class, I wouldn’t take mythology and film. If it’s not going to be something you enjoy and isn’t relative to your intended major/career, it does not seem worth it. If not, I’d probably do an independent study if I were you (AP Psychology seems like a good class to self-study).

Sadly, there are no honor classes in my school it really sucks.

I would replace 3rd period with AP psych. Can you take health online, and add a one- semester AP class like AP macro or AP gov in the spring?
Can you ask your chemistry, French, English, and math teachers for ways to make the class more ‘honors’ -like, perhaps with occasional in-depth topics just for a small group -you and whoever 's interested -, and they’d mention it to your guidance counselor so that it’s be mentioned in your letters of recommendation next year?
