Hi, I am a junior in high school and I am confused about what to take during my senior year. I have been doing spanish all 3 years of high school and am currently in IB Spanish 4. Should I continue with IB Spanish 5 (which will be HL’ing spanish since I am taking it 2 years with IB), OR should I take IB Economics which is macro and then micro.
I want to go into the pre-med track in college so which option will colleges consider to be better?
Will they think that me taking IB Economics is good because it is more STEM related?
Improving your skill in Spanish could be helpful if you eventually practice medicine in an area with lots of Spanish speaking people.
You can take introductory economics any time in college (and continue to more advanced economics if you take the proper economics, math, and statistics prerequisites first).
What are your current IB choices?
My school has 8 blocks so I am taking IB Chemistry 2 (HL), IB Biology 2 (HL), IB Math Analysis 2 (SL), IB Theory of knowledge (1st semester) and off block (2nd semester), AP Statistics, IB English 4 (HL), Biomedical Innovations and for my 8th block I am stuck between IB Spanish 5 or IB Economics
Drop Biomedical Innovations or AP Stats and take both Spanish and Economics?
(Since you’re taking IB Math, I’d drop AP Stats, especially since there’s significant overlap with what you’re studying already).
