High School Credits

Hey there, so for my high school, the minimum amount of credits that's needed for each year is 5.5. Currently I have 6 credits. Now my problem is, I'm taking a computer science class (full year, 1 credit) as my 4th math course that I'm doing well in.. The learning curve was so steep that I don't see myself being able to catch up anytime soon. Unfortunately, It's too late in the year for me to switch out to another math class. So I'm just thinking, I switched my band class to a half year but if I make that a full year and then drop computer scienece, would that be a more suitable option for me?By doing so I would have the 5.5 credits I need but I wouldn't have a 4th math credit. I'm looking at going to art schools and while most want 4 years of math.. I don't think they would want to see a bad 4th year.

bump …

I’ve never heard of CS being considered a math class, but that’s not really relevant. You said you’re doing well in the class, but you also said you haven’t been able to catch up? What kinds of grades are you getting in this class? How much help have you been going to get?

I meant to say that I wasn’t doing well in that class (my bad). Anyway, if I were to guess as to what my grade could be… It’s probably somewhere in the D range if not them failing. I get help from other classmates and the internet (teacher’s always busy) but it doesn’t seem to work.

What ends up happening is that come test time, I have somewhat of an idea of what’s going with certain programs but when i get the test, There are some questions about a totally different idea.

bump…

Honestly, you might want to consider calling and asking the admissions office. They might be a bit lenient on the math requirement. Also, right up until you have to make the final decision to switch out or not, try desperately to raise your grade. Staying in the class is only the better choice if you do fairly well in it. Try talking to your teacher after class, if they’re too busy during class, and explain to them how you’re trying but just not getting it.
