High school freshman looking forward for colleges(MIT,Caltech)

I’m a freshman in high school, and im pre-calculous, conceptual physics(the thing you take before biology or chemistry), and normal english and french. I am willing to apply MIT and Caltech for college. can u guys provide me some suggestions for how to get in? and i think i am going to take some online courses or things like that to accelerate(on science), what should i do? Thx!!

Keep your grades as close to a 4.0 as possible. Always try your hardest in class, but don’t freak out if you’ve got an A- or B+. Turn in all of your homework, and stay away from the “well, I have an A so I don’t need to do this assignment” mentality. Pursue a myriad of extracurricular activities (if you don’t have a clear passion) – and then, once you find an area you’re passionate about, dedicate a lot of time to those areas. Seek out more unique ECs for those areas, and leadership positions.

Take the most rigorous courses possible. If you’re in pre-calc as a freshmen, then you’re obviously good at math.

Don’t take any online courses the first semester of freshmen year. Give yourself time to adjust to being a high school student. Once you get a feel for your courses, then you can try online courses. It would be a mistake to take on too much your first time as a high school student and not do as well as you could have if you kept a normal course load.

Take the PSAT sophomore year just to get a feel of where you are, testing wise. Most of all, enjoy high school. Don’t do anything for the sake of it looking good on an application – find things you’re truly passionate about, then dedicate yourself to said activities.

That helps a lot, I really appreciated it. And I am wondering if i can do anything during the summer?

Volunteer or work in some places. This will add to your EC

If you’re good at math, make USAMO and you have a good shot at getting in.
