High School - getting a job?

Yeah, so I'm a bored second semester senior looking to get a job, the usual minimum wage stuff. Since I've never had one before, I really don't know where to start. Do I drive around and look for "hiring now" signs (seems kinda futile)? Is there a website that lists available jobs lol? So, where exactly do I start?

Also, any tips? Recommendations? Heeeeeeelp lol.

I'm looking for any job, probably one that's not too hard since it's my first job. I'm not picky, but I kinda like the idea of working at a restaurant of any kind. I'm not yet 18 so I can't serve alcohol in my state lol.

Thanks :D

I’m browsing snagajob.com… is that site actually legit?

I started an application on what I believe was snagajob; i’m pretty sure it’s legit- but my actual job I found while looking at my local mall’s website. There were listings for all the stores that were hiring, now I work at old navy, making TWENTYFIVE CENTS above minimum wage!!!

Try Craigslist. If you babysit, you may be able to find jobs in the “childcare” section. But they do have a lot of part-time jobs as well.

at my school, we actually have an admin. who emails all the students when a job opportunity comes up around the school. but since my school is really close to a growing town center, that might be the reason why we have a job admin.
but maybe your school has one too!

I got mine through a friend. Do any of your friends work somewhere that has an opening?

Ok, are u a girl or boy? I would suggest babysitting if ur a girl. b/c most people wont let a dude babysit their children. There are ads in the childcare section of craigslist. also care.com is GREAT! if you are not, you need to be CPR and first aid certified. Especially because you haven’t had a job before. That will help set u apart from others, and it’s a great thing to have on your resume. Next thing, get a resume. Put your volunteer work on it! You can put an ad on CL saying ur a teen looking for work. but be careful with that.
I’m a senior n 2nd semeter too :)

Hope this helps?

I wouldn’t recommend craigslist… but try local grocery stores. they tend to hire teenagers often, and the wegmans near my house has loads of benefits (pay raise every three months, premium pay on sundays, work to fit around your school schedule, scholarships, etc)

Put it on your facebook that you are looking for a job. Go to the closest restaurants and stores to your house and put in some applications. Make sure you put on the application that you are flexible about hours and start date and will work through the summer. Locations close to your home will save you time and gas money when you start working. Save as much money as you can for college expenses-you will need it :)!

This is great help. I’ll drive around and go to local grocery stores. And I’ll ask my friends.

Thanks! :D

Im looking for a second job right now, i dont get many hours at my summer job. I usually just go in and talk to the manager. They give me an application to fill out or just take my information. I havnt heard back from anyone yet so im not sure if its the fastest way to find a job, but i should be one of the first to hear if they do decide to hire. Ive got applications in just about everywhere in town including fast food, grocery stores, gas stations, ect. Hope this helped
