High school graduation gift...

A friend’s child is graduation high school this year and I need to get her a small gift. I am thinking $50 range. Any good ideas? For some info on the child…very socially inept in all situations, lacks common sense and is probably going to have a very tough time at college and managing life. This is not meant to be mean but is very accurate of the child.

Any ideas of maybe something that was extremely useful entering bs or college?

Cash is king!?

A gift card to a store where he can get things he will need for college such as Amazon, Bed, Bath & Beyond, or Target.

The mom is traditional south and I believe would appreciate a “gift”. Cash or gift card is definitely my backup plan.

Book, “What to Say to a Naked Roommate,” was a book S received and smiled while reading. It could be paired with a multi-tool that has a scissors perhaps.

I made desk kits that I gave out—a little zippered pouch full of the little things you need and use from your desk—various types of tape, binder clips, paper clips, small stapler, scissors, mechanical pencil with spare lead and eraser, assorted pens—permanent sharpie, ballpoint pen, fine marker, envelopes and postage stamps, ruler, etc.)

I have given graduates a leatherman. It’s one of those things that may or may not be immediately useful, but it’ll almost certainly come in handy at some point. Definitely not “girly” but suitable for a girl.

^^ Seconding the leatherman, for both girls and boys. And they come in fun colors, if that appeals.

A multi-tool is a great gift (Leatherman is a brand name, like Kleenex or Vaseline). Just be sure not to fly with one! My husband always has his on his belt… and has sadly had to sacrifice more than one to the TSA.
