I am the valedictorian of my graduating class, therefore I am supposed to make a speech at the gradaution ceremony. I really don't want to go to the ceremony, and it is not manditory because you get your diploma earlier.
Is it o.k. for me to not go? My parents say ist o.k.
What will the school do during the ceremony?

Why would you not go? You are Valedictorian! If you accepted to do the speech then yeah, I would say you must go!

If your parents and you don’t care then I would say it’s OK. But you really should let the school know early enough so they can get another speaker.

I’m sure someone else would be happy to speak in place of you. Just let the school know early, as above poster has said. I totally understand not wanting to go to the ceremony.

Is the salutatorian a real talker? If so, let him or her do all the talking. You could get up and say what one of my husband’s former students did, “Thank you very much … and everyone have a great life.” It was short, sweet and the graduates loved it, because he was not much of a talker and they had just sat through 35 minutes of all that talking.
