Valedictorian Speech

So at this point in the year, though it hasn’t been officially announced, I am pretty sure I will be the valedictorian of my graduating class. However, I happened to have very intense stage fright and fear of public speaking and definitely do not want to give the speech. I am almost positive I can give up my speech to another person but I was just wondering how often that happens and if it looks bad. I know other valedictorians have been prevented from giving their speeches but I just wanted to know if I’m the only one who actually is giving up my speech because I don’t want to give one and not for any other reason.

Many many students in HS are afraid of public speaking…but really, you get used to it over time.

  1. Go talk to the drama teacher. Tell them the issue. They may be able to give you exercise or help you practice.
  2. Usually you feel uncomfortable because you are unfamiliar with the topic. If you are val, write the speech ASAP and practic practice practice. If you can practice in front of people, do it.
