i am 16 years old, a high school sophomore soon to be junior and dating a high school senior soon to be college freshman. I live in Florida as does my boyfriend. i will be away for almost 8 weeks this summer in Georgia and he will be working here in Florida. i will be able to see him at one point during the summer. The one thing that bothers me more than anything is that he will be starting college out of state in illinois. What are the chances of this lasting?

...not very?

I'd say that completely depends on the strength of the relationship-If you guys have been together for a while and love each other, then try and make it work, if it seems like you're going in different directions both literally and in terms of want you want in life, then I would call it quits. Keep in mind though, people sometimes change when they hit college so he may want to keep things casual and have breathing room for a while so he can figure himself out. But again, depends on the strength of the relationship.

same thing happened to me my sophomore/junior and her senior/freshman and she went to college right down the street from our hs. it only lasted a month after she started college, even though we had been dating for awhile, and she said that her priorities really changed once she started.

This exact situation happened to me as well. We ended up dating until mid April, but I cut it off because i felt that things had changed in our relationship, but if I hadn't I feel like it had a chance to go for a very, very long time.

well think about it this way.

it's high school. nothing lasts forever from high school.
my math teacher last year was married to her high school sweetheart for 15 years but then they got a divorce and she had a breakdown in her ap calc class.

they removed her for "medical needs" she was supposed to come back this year, but she didnt. hmm i wonder why?

just tell him that you value your guys' relationship, but you're kinda afraid what will happen after he leaves, and tell him you want to just stay friends. and hey, if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. just remember that.

0 chance .

theres a chance if and only if the both of you are faithful.

Even if you end up together later, college is a time to grow.If you give yourselves a chance to meet new people and still want to continue to see each other, it will be stronger. Also, think beyond college. Can you guarantee you will always stay in the same town? A relationship has to be strong enough to withstand a lot of change and stress.

Nearly zero percent chance of that lasting. Sorry. Don't be idealistic about it. You need to be realistic and not let your current feelings blind you from the unfortunate reality.

It's already over.

if it lasts the summer, can you say turkey dump?

i have the same situation my boyfriend is a senior in high school and I'm a junior. He isn't going to college in the fall though b/c of money issues and I think as does he that our relationship will last. So if your boyfriend and you both think it will last then it might. I depends on how much you care/love eachother
