High School Medical/Research Internships

Hey Guys,

I am a senior who is looking at taking a gap year and then reapplying to top colleges. I may get an acceptance to the Ivy League this April, but it is unlikely since I waited literally until the day the applications were due to write my essays - I know, very stupid. I have great ECs and some perfect math scores (Math Level 2, ACT math), so I have confidence that, with proper time management, I can be a competitive Ivy League applicant. Anyways, back on topic...

I hear many kids on CC saying "Oh I completed a Stanford Internship" or "I did research with MIT". What are some of these programs? I have searched with Google but found only programs for Juniors (I'm a senior). Are there any good (as in none of the "pay $10K to be at harvard") programs that you can think of?

Any recommendations?

Thanks so much!

A guy I know spent two years at a community college in their Honors Program (free tuition). He then transferred to an Ivy League school and subsequently got a PhD from that school.

Top grades at a community college for a semester or two or three could definitely help your application.

Ivy League schools do like to have a diverse student body, and that includes people that spent time at community colleges.

Actually, I did get into UF, so no community college for me!

I see some of those programs have high tuition. That is no problem for my family, but will it still appear a competitive internship?
