high school performance and transfer admissions (I'm really worried...)

I'm a current freshman, who has completed one semester and hopes to transfer in Fall 2011. Obviously my high school performance is going to be looking at much more so than if I were to apply later on, but I'm wondering how much it will negatively affect my chances.

I had an upward trend in high school and my grades for first semester, despite being lower than I was hoping due to an issue in one class, are generally better than my high school grades. My SAT score is 1360/2060 and I have 3 AP tests that I got 4s and a 5 on.

I really can't stand the thought of spending another year at my current school, but I don't really want to settle for a place were I'll be as unhappy as I am now because I know that transferring again will be even harder.

My top choice is NYU, and other schools in the city and Urban areas. NYU isn't just my top choice because of the city though, I also found a program at Steinhardt that I really like....

bump please

You gave very few stats. There is no way anyone can give you any advice. Generally I would expect you would need a very high gpa and some nice ECs in college to have a shot at making up for bad hs and SATs. Great essays and recs too. Basic stuff.

my SAT score isn’t bad…
