Great I hope you all find it helpful! The college admissions people that I’ve spoken to seem to be very familiar with the schools in their area.

This document helps some, but if your child(ren) have schools that they are definitely interested in, my suggestion is that you get on the phone and speak with the admissions reps. Believe me, they already know how they feel about the students at your school, it’s their job!!!

Many schools come by my DDs school for visits. They do a small information session with interested students, stick around for lunch and informal chats just to get to know them. I would talk to the guidance counselors and see if they can set something up like this at your school, especially if its a school your child is interested in.

The counselors travel all of the time and believe me it gives the admissions counselors a chance to really get to know your children on thier turf!!

Most ad coms outside of our state had never heard of our school! Which is why an accurate and informative profile was so important.

Our HS profile listed the grade scale, the percentage of students at each level (i.e x% at A+ , x% at A, etc), percentage going on to 4 year colleges, percentage going on to 2 year colleges. Also listed were all AP classes offered. I believe average SAT scores were also mentioned.

Overall it was pretty good. The only issue I had was that I found a major math mistake where some percentages did not add up. That was brought to the school’s attention and corrected.
So make sure you review it!
