After reading a number of posts regarding regional quotas, i understand that the ONLY quota U.Va. must follow is for Virginia itself.

However, are there quotas -- or a better term, limits -- to how many kids U.Va. accepts from each high school?

For example, U.Va. accepted 4 kids from my school last year (which, actually, I consider a lot). Would it ever go beyond that? Are admissions even aware of how many people they accept from a single school?

Dean J answered this many time. No quotas or limits for schools, regions, states, countries, etc… other than 2/3 Va residents and 1/2 OOS/International.

thanks; sorry if i aroused any frustration … maybe I should increase my time on this site per diem to 2 hours instead of only 1, so that i would be able to see the “many time,” as you say, that Dean J posted about this. ;)

crazydad is correct there is no quota other then the state mandated one. Dean J addresses this each year but it persists each year around this time. She wrote about it in her blog:

Instead of upping your time on CC (which is entertaining ) you might want to subscribe to Dean J’s blog. You’ll be notified when she posts anything new and you’ll always know it’s valid. There’s also a great search feature where you can look at past blogs to see if she’s already written about your questions. It saved us a lot of stress last year.

lol, i love her blog; i didn’t know you could subscribe though. I shall do that instead, though CCing for another hour would be fun and/or a sign of my increasing insanity

Stealthyscholar, I was concerned about that too but a friend told me that UVA admitted about 20+ students from our school last year. They look at your school profile to see you in the context of your school but given the number accepted from my school alone, I don’t think they have limits.
