High school sophomore wanting to learn more about US college process

Hello, I am a rising high school sophomore. I know it is a little early in the process but I will be the first one to study college in the US so I’d like to gather as much information as possible beforehand. I would like to study business in college (I highly doubt I’ll change my mind) and I was wondering what colleges are good for business and match my statistics (sort of?). I go to a very highly ranked private school and so far have a 3.8 GPA (I didn’t really push myself), however I am taking 3 honors classes and one class that isn’t offered to my grade level this year. Realistically speaking, I think I’ll be able to get around a 3.9 UW if I really push myself. I got 86th percentile on the SSAT (I don’t know if that matters much but hey). What colleges would you all recommend for business for a student like me. Once again, I know it is a little early to get started looking and stuff, but I’m really behind on the US college process so…

  1. Home State?

  2. Have a talk with your parents about how much they are willing to pay each year for your college? You need to find out if you are going to need financial aid to fund your college years. Do you need merit aid and/or need-based aid?

  3. Ask to visit some local colleges in your area, so you have an idea of what type of college you would like to attend. Maybe one large state school and one small private school.

  4. Consider taking the PSAT and the PLAN as practice for the real SAT/ACT. Find out what are your strengths and weaknesses.

  5. Get involved in your school and community. Find some extracurricular activities you enjoy and also look for leadership positions.

@Gumbymom Thank you so much. MY home state is NJ and tuition shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll definitely visit the colleges and definitely take the psat. Also I do running for my hs, take part in mun and maybe I might do the business competition club, and I run my own business (have made over 20k in profits).
