Varsity Alpine skiing, nope, not doing it in college

what exactly qualifies cheerleading to NOT to be a sport??

It lacks direct competition and the final judging is subjective. Also, the main point basically artistic. Dance and cheerleading require athleticism (to be good at least) but they certainly aren't focused on athletic ability.

Varsity Cross Country

Junior Varsity Track (800m and mile)

idk if anyone told you...but there are cheerleading competitions...what would make gymnastics a sport and cheerleading not, in both cases the juding is subjective

I don't know if anyone told you ... but those cheerleading events don't have direct competition....

neither do gymnastic meets, gymnastics is mos def a sport, its the same deal with sports like skateboarding and surfing, etc

I play varsity basketball, and I have played on that team since my 10th grade year (I've played bball since I was 6). I might play in college, but I'm not sure yet.

I also played varsity soccer this year, but I'm not good enough to play in college.

It has a lot to do w/ athletic ability i just think the final result happens to be artistic

Like you said earlier though, it depends on whether the focus is on being the best athletically or artistically. Gymnastics is more the former; cheerleading is the latter.

The main thing you have to remember is that the point of cheerleading is not competition. Does it require a lot fitness? Probably. Does being in a marching band require a lot of fitness? Definitely. Do cheerleaders compete? Sometimes. Do bands compete? Usually. If you're in a high school band are you an athlete? No. If you're a cheerleader are you an athlete? NO.

Varsity soccer... We're state ranked.

We have alot of people go play at good schools, but there's no way I'm playin after this year lol. Gotta focus on school..

Varsity Swimming and Varsity Water Polo, was MVP last year as a freshmen, but I'm not sure if I'll be good enough for college athletic programs.

Nothing at my school competitively or "officially", but I play a lot for fun. It's pretty hilarious, because for many sports I'm just as good as, if not better than the top athletes. Don't like joining the team or all that practice time, though, I play for fun.

If I had to be a bit more un-vague, I'd say I'm the most baller at tennis, basketball, and football. Any others I still own, though.

And swimming...I don't need to talk about something that any half-decent 7 year old can do now, and virtually all adults are proficient at.

Varsity Cross County over here! Definitely not competing at the collegiate level though.

It depends on which squad your on or which you join. All-star cheerleading is stirctly competition and nothing else. Certain high school teams are strictly competition and only compete; not chant on the sidelines.

Varsity XC and Track

5000m PR 17:28
800m PR 2:10
3200m PR 10:39

Nowhere good enough to run in college (though if I was, I might considering running for JHU or WashU?)

Our XC team got 3rd in State :) I didn't run though, I was an alternate :(
