High school students interested in a political awareness magazine?

I attend a small public high school in Kentucky with about 900 students in total. (Yeah, tiny). I am currently a junior and I feel the kids are really privileged and most of them have little understanding of current politics, news events, or international/national economic and political policies. Our school is really small, so our newspaper is actually a class; it isn't student-ran.

Just in general, how many high school students would be interested in reading a political or news related newspaper/magazine? I don't care if you're a jock, cheerleader, academic, artist, musician, goth, or whatever. Would you be interested in a political awareness club? I know other schools have PACs and newspapers, but since our school is really small, I don't know how many high schoolers (we're talking about high schoolers, not intellectuals or mature adults) would be interested in reading and contributing.

Thanks!!! I hope I can start this club!

Well I would really love that, but then again I am a government nerd.

That would appeal to me.

I would absolutely read such a periodical if it were available to me, however I think the reason that this is the general response is largely due to the fact that those on this site are probably academics.
