Politics Ideas?

Hey guys! Well, I always see people on here talking about how they are in the national party or part of the campaign for a candidate. I was just wondering how everyonegot involved in these things. Do you go through internships? Volunteering? Who do you contact to get involved in these things? Do you work with your local governments, Congresspeople/Senators, what? I'm just a freshman, so of course some avenues, like being a page, are closed to be. However, as anyone who might be following the Obama thread knows, I'm pretty interested in politics, and I would love to be able to be more involved. If anyone has any ideas, that would be great. Thanks!

If your school has a Young Democrats and/or Young Republicans club, that's a good way to get involved. I've done a lot of canvassing for my local politicians and for Hillary Clinton through my school's Young Democrats club, which has great connections (a few kids even went to New Hampshire to help out her campaign!). If your school has those clubs, try to get involved. Or, contact your local chapter of whichever party with which you are affiliated and ask about opportunities.

Thanks, gg0624! Yes, I've tried emailing the local and state chapters of the Young Democrats (my political affiliation) and my city council to see if there is any way I can get involved, but they have nothing for me. My school also does not have a Young Democrats; I'm working on setting one up, but it's a long and very arduous process, and i would love to be able to be involved while I'm working to start it.
