High School Transcripts?

Hi, this is my first time on CC forums. I was wondering when I should send in my high school first semester transcripts to all my colleges, seeing how all of the schools I am applying to require the application to be turned in during early January. My semester doesn't end until around the same time, so do I ask to send in my transcripts before, or after?

And do most colleges other than UC's look at my senior first semester grades as a factor to determine if I am admitted or not? For example, BC, NYU, Cornell, Tufts, etc.

You don’t send transcripts to UCs; you self report grades in your application which was due Nov 30. As to other colleges, you must send a transcript by the application deadline and since high schools tend to be closed during holidays and it often takes a high school a while to actually send the transcript after request, you would be wise to go immediately to your high school and order transcripts sent to colleges with an early Jan application deadline date; they can be sent before you actually complete application.

After you apply, many colleges then require you to send another transcript reflecting your first semester senior year grades and you do that when grades are released, but you don’t wait for those grades before sending your first transcript.

As to college’s that require those mid-year grades after you apply and use them to determine admission, the ones you mention other than the UCs do. However, the majority of colleges do not and are like the UCs, using grades only through junior year. Nevertheless, most high ranked colleges require mid-year grade reports.
