I have gone to 2 high schools, both for 2 years. I got my official transcripts at school I currently attend and my dad was telling me today that colleges want 2 official transcripts, one from my old high school and one from my current school. The transcript I got from my school has the grades for my entire high school career so the grades from my old school too. Would I still need to get official transcripts from my old school?
You probably will. Your current HS may be able to request it for you.
I would suggest you do, though your current guidance department may tell you that it is not necessary as they have folded the old information into the new. Best to follow what is listed under admissions requirements of the colleges to which you will be applying.
Talk to your guidance counselor and look at requirements from colleges (ex. if they want all transcripts from all high schools then send them). First colleges may want the transcript directly from that HS. Secondly, it may be helpful to get the transcript from your first school sent as the school profile for your that school would come with that transcript – the school profile can help colleges understand your freshman and soph. year coursework in the context of that first HS.
