High schooler getting ready for college?

I was just wondering what I need to do to get ready for college. I'm going into tenth grade and I don't want to regret it if my college applications are lacking later on. So far, I'm a straight A student (4.0 gpa unweighted) and a tennis player. I took 2 honors classes (Science & English) my freshman year and I'm taking 2 more honors classes my 10th grade year plus a World History AP class. I've joined 2 clubs (Spanish Club and a welcoming committee club) my 9th grade year and some other clubs during middle school such as Njhs. In 7th grade, I took the ACT and got a 19. I also took the AMC test, but I did horribly. I've been recommended and nominated for a pageant and summer programs, but haven't been able to do them due to the lack of income. I've gotten awards for classes and accepted to the yearbook staff. I have done volunteer work in public libraries and etc. I'm planning on volunteering in the hospital, taking a CPR class, and getting a summer job.

Is volunteer work during middle school relevant in college applications and if so, do I keep track of the hours? Should I do more summer programs? (Please recommend some?) Honestly, I want to get in a good college and hopefully become a pharmacist or get an occupation that makes a difference in this world. I just need some guidance, so if you have pharmacy school recommendations, advice, or any thoughts on what I should do to make my college application look better, it would help :) Thanks for your help!

For a talent search? FWIW, I got a 22 in seventh grade and a 35 junior year.

If you’re going to do summer programs, look for free selective ones (and internships, when you’re old enough). The expensive ones don’t help your application much…they mostly just show colleges that you’re privileged. If free selective programs are infeasible for some reason, volunteer or get a paid job. (I’ve been told it looks good that I work at McDonald’s because it shows that I’m down-to-earth and have a good work ethic and such.)

IMO, many (possibly most) occupations make a positive difference in the world, even ones that don’t involve helping people directly.

Yes, for the talent search  I didn’t know what to expect so I forgot there was a time limit. Good job on getting 22! I’ll keep your advice in mind! Thanks!
