I got 680 on SAT I Math (but 35 on ACT Math); if I get above 680 on the Math II, will they put a lot more emphasis (as in replacing it altogether) on that score?

A 680 on math II is pretty bad. Try to get like a high 700.

I agree with shiomi. An 800 Math2 would remove any doubts about your math abilities, but a 680 Math2 is around the 60th %ile and would not impress any adcoms

An 800 Math 2 would override the 680 SAT I math, yes.

What about a 790 Math 2?? I have a freaking 680 SAT I M... it's embarrassing b/c i'm in ap calc!

^ Is there any chance you could retake the SAT to improve your math score?

yeah, i'm retaking it this sat. but my EA schools won't see the new scores.

I have the same problem. I'm in Calc BC w/ a 5 on Calc AB, and am applying to BME.
680/710 on Reasoning Math(I don't know why)
Taking math II on Saturday...I really need an 800 or I'm screwed (I don't have physics either)

730 Math SAT and 750 Math II (I'm retaking this Sat. shooting for 800)..will my 730 be overlooked? I'm majoring in business..that's why I need a high math score.

With both those two scores so close, it doesn't really matter. I presume that the above posters, too, are only talking about major gaps. Plus, Math I and II test very different things.

what about math2 800 and reasoningmath 760?

A 760 reasoning is great...an 800 math 2 is great...hmm? I don't know if you're fine? /sarcasm

How about the opposite? Good reasoning math, but mathII around 650?

I'd think Math 2 has more cancelling power than reasoning test, only because it tests stuff you've learned and not just raw talent (colleges want people who can learn; not just people with high ability)

680 is not 60ish percentile lol, 680 is more like 90% tile

math II won't make up for a poor reasoning math test.
they are testing two different things

arachnotron: not being sarcastic, i'm from a competitive sch where most of my friends get 800 for reasoningmath, so i'm quite unsure about my math score ><

What do you have? If it's a 750-790, then you're probably fine; the difference between an 800 and a 750 is two items, and colleges know this.

680 is not 60ish percentile lol, 680 is more like 90% tile - Ren

Ren, I'd have to disagree, simply because I got a 600 and something on the June Maths 2 and it was 40th percentile or something horrid like that. So I retook. Hopefully I did better, otherwise I should just burn my applications T_T

You guys are messing with the difference between the subject test and the reasoning math test. 680 is on the reasoning around the 91 percentile, but closer to 50-55% on the Math II.
