Highschool advice. Am I on the right track?

I have problems with anxiety and I am having a hard time trying to get it together. I am a freshmen in high school and I suddenly realized that I wasn't doing as well as I could be doing. I got an 89 1st semester and a 90 second semester.I am a approaching the end of the 3rd semester with 90+ on all of my classes but , I am having a bit of a hard time. I also got ok scores on the midterms (82 being the lowest and 99 being the highest) I want to go to a good college and I am wondering if I am on the right track. I tend to worry a lot and I have some social "problems" to deal with (generic teenage boy stuff). I feel like haven't been trying my hardest and I am trying to step it up. I have tried out a sport and joined the art club but, I still have a knot in my stomach. Thank you for your time.

If you’re getting A’s and B’s, you’re doing fine. Good colleges will not reject you for a 3.8 or whatever GPA. Very selective colleges will be difficult for you because they’re difficult for everyone! Just keep working your hardest and try to enjoy your years of high school. A hard time adjusting freshman year is nothing you can’t overcome :)

People! “Freshmen” is plural! (I don’t normally point this stuff out, but I’ve seen it like ten times on here this week.)

What do you mean by this? Most colleges, including most good colleges, aren’t terribly selective, but (like everyone) you might have a hard time if you’re trying to get into HYPSM.

Thank you for the encouraging words , I really appreciate it.

Sorry, English is not my strongest subject. By good college, I mean one that is well known but not as competitive as harvard & friends.

Freshman year is about finding your footing in high school. Sophomore year is the first year that colleges truly look at your GPA, extracurriculars etc. Enjoy the rest of this year and focus on gradual improvement rather than overwhelming yourself and the knots will go away.

I only get an 89 freshman year, will it affect my chances of getting into more competitive colleges?

I dont know, I’m still not feeling “confident enough”. I tend to be really hard on myself and think too much about little problems. Hopefully , I will get at least a 90 for freshman year :)
