Highschool: Pot and Alcohol

ok ok but I still don’t understand doing something that is ILLEGAL… Get it?

^^ exactly because if weed isnt as bad as everyone thinks it is, the government would not have such a hard time with since they will know that it will not have a negative effect on the country.

But obviously there are pros and cons to everything but I think that weed and alcohol have more cons than pros which is why I refuse to associate myself with those substances.

The government hasn’t made weed legal because they can’t make much profit off of it. It has NOTHING to do with whether it is “good” or “bad” for the public. Weed can’t be patented since it grows in nature instead of being produced by humans in a lab. It is all about profit. The second they find a way to make profit from weed see how fast the governments view on it changes so they can make it legal.

Taxing sale of marijuana = profit for government

Yeah, but marijuana would come to replace many prescription drugs since it has almost no negative side effects. If you don’t smoke but eat or vaporize it, that pretty much eliminates any health risk that comes from responsible usage. So, since we all know pharmaceutical companies play a large role in our legislature, they are probably helping to influence the government’s marijuana policy. But the government also has its pride to think about: how would it look if, after a trillion dollars and forty years of warring, the government suddenly changed its stance? People would wonder what the **** the gov had been doing for almost half a decade, and they’d have to own up to their hypocrisy and deception.

Francaisalamatt, yes. I’m about to go vape right now. I just submitted my last college app, and I’m celebrating with some immaculate Hindu Kush. For all those who have never vaporized their weed, I recommend it wholeheartedly. I vaped right before my last SAT, and I got a 2280 (100 points higher than my previous score) soooo…yeah.

@CystalJ, if they want more money all they need to do is raise taxes of cigarettes and alcohol
@Francaisalamatt You’re more foolish than I thought EVERYTHING have consequences even weed. But I highy don’t the vast majority of people would want to use something that was once illegal.

@Descuff, you do realize that alcohol was once illegal, right?

^^ Yes, hence all the people against it.

I am dumbfounded by the lack of logic in your arguments.

For all the people who think alcohol is worse than weed and that weed has no negative side effects, consider that weed makes you stupid, whereas alcohol does not. In fact, alcohol consumption has a correlation with intelligence and education.

^ Carl Sagan: noted stupid person.

@michael2, weed have a correlation with life which is greater than the correlation between alcohol consumption and intelligence/education.

How about raising the taxes on cigarettes and alcohol while ALSO legalizing marijuana?

^ This. 10char

Pretty sure they have been raising the tax on alcohol and cigarettes. I mean, haven’t the prices skyrocketed recently? (I don’t actually buy either thing, so I’m not too aware).

It seem the people who want the legalization of marijuana are the one who does it and does not want to get caught :/

@Descuff: Not quite, although I’m sure you realize that any such relationship may very well undermine your claim. Stated in other words, you’re saying that all the people who have experience with the topic think you’re wrong.

Still, as I said, that’s not quite true. It is entirely possible to have respect for people, and for their choices, without making the choices yourself. There is no defensible moral proposition holding that drugs are evil. However, I believe there is a defensible moral proposition holding that it is evil to interfere with a man’s ownership of his body.

Smoking holds no allure for me, regardless of the chemical content of the noxious fumes. However, that does not mean that my choice is or should be everyone else’s. People are individuals, with different goals, preferences, and lives. I think that is beautiful, not unfortunate.

On a different point that’s been asserted earlier in the thread: you lose more, if your measure of good is “social welfare,” by locking people up for making choices with their bodies, than you do by allowing everyone to make bad choices.

Nah, too expensive. It adds up. Rather spend all that money on clothes, haha.

Don’t do pot; don’t drink alcohol. It’s not difficult and I don’t understand what the point of it is.
