Hispanic Math Major?

My cousin from Florida (He's Dominican) got into Princeton and is a math major. His stats were garbage: no SAT, 28 ACT, 3.5 GPA, No APs

but he was born in the D.R.

is it easy to get in as a Hispanic applicant to Princeton?

I’m a minority applicant as well. Other than what you posted, I know close to nothing about your cousin to say exactly why he got in. All I can say is don’t let anyone tell you that it is easy for minorities to get into top schools. It isn’t easy for anyone. Being a minority is helpful, but it won’t guarantee a person’s acceptance at all. I have a very high performing African American friend who was rejected from Princeton last year. He was competitive regardless of race.

Hispanic applicants receive a slightly larger boost in admissions than legacy admits. Which isn’t that much.

That boost cannot account for the anomaly that is the contrast between Princeton’s average stats and your cousin’s. What this means is that your cousin must have submitted a very special application that suggested that he has unique personal qualities that warrant admission.

In other words, instead of getting in for having high scores and good grades, he got in for something that actually matters.

Can’t wait to meet him.

Most colleges seek high performing Hispanic applicants. What’s news about that Ankscript? You already know that.

You yourself have made multiple posts wondering if your Indian/Portuguese background somehow qualifies you as Hispanic.
