I was looking at the students Howard admits and 0.5% admitted were latino. Is this due to the fact little amounts of Latinos apply to HBU or is purposeful on the admissions’ part? I am aware HBU do slant towards AA, but is it to a point latinos wont even be considered for admission?I am latina and am applying to Howard, I was just wondering if I’d even have a chance.
It is the former versus the latter.
Some people may not have heard of Howard. And as a student of Howard University, I can tell you that many people are unfortunately deterred from applying (Even other black students!) by thinking that because Howard is historically black, it is only black. This is not at all true. Coming to Howard expanded my mindset and my ethnic and national friend group. I have Vietnamese, Nepalese, Guyanese, Indian, Mexican, and Dominican friends here to name a few, and they all were accepted with no issue.
Howard doesn’t discriminate on admissions. Some people may discriminate on applying!
As long as you have the scores and the essay, you’ll be fine.
