Potter and I found this forum when she was in the eighth grade (6) years ago. Col Dr Martin France was answering questions about admission into the Academy. They haven’t changed much over the years. Are my SAT scores good enough? Will my grades get me in? What classes should I take? Col France took time from his schedule and provide answers and insight that weren’t really available in other locations.

As time passed so did the torch. UncynicaL Began answering more questions, and Cadet life centered questions began getting addressed. This opened a whole new direction, but also began a growth phase. Soon more Candidates and yes Parents began asking, and having questions answered. As Uncynical neared graduation she groomed her successors, and I believe they have lived up to the vision she had for the forum.

It is not hard to imagine that 10% of the incoming class of 2013 will have gotten advice from this resource. Occasionally a dust-up will occur, usually better handled by ignoring the offending parties then by extending the argument, but the information passed on here is for the benefit of all.

I do not know if this is the vision Col Fance had for this forum, but do see it as a legacy of sorts. I spoke with him breifly at potters I-day, and do know he has a sense of pride about all the CC Cadets.

Thank You Col France.

Thank you to the good Colonel and to our LT (UNcynical). It has made this a fun and amazing place!

DS thanks for the background

I (Pima) am new to the forum compared to everyone else, however I have enjoyed every second. I found this on a fluke, by googling something (can't even remember now, I think something about noms). Through this site we also found serviceacademyforums.com

You are correct that we may tend to have a dust up every now and then, but the camraderie here has been unbelievable. It is also wierd to find kids that we knew the parents from our AF career(sign of old age). I only wish that I had found this site ly this time, for the whole process.

Now a note to the cadets:

You have all illustrated that you are the best (as are the cadets who are ROTC). I am sure that you have very little time to spend here, but you get it. You are already showing your leadership ability by giving up your free time to meet with CCers at orientation. You have taken the time to say I am your family, you have calmed parents fears of the what ifs and by doing so, the parents know that they will cry when they are given 90 sec to say goodby, but they also know that all/most of their questions of fear have been answered.

One day some of you will cross paths with Bullet2 (our DS) and since the cadets here are older, I am positive he would be proud to serve under your leadership. As a Mom I am happy that he may have the chance. As an American I am proud!

Last but not least the AF is ABOVE ALL

I joined just over 2 years ago. DocFrance was just exiting and UNcynical was getting ready to graduate.

Actually, it was my father who discovered the site. We could not find the model number for the issued boots, as the appointee kit only had the DoD stock numbers (which were no help unless you had access to a DoD computerized stocking system). This forum was one of the few places which had that info...oh the wonders of Google!

yep found this in google about 2 years ago never thinking id actually get a chance to participate in any sort of conversation regarding usafa

Thanks ds52262!! You were one of the ones who helped when the news of the medical turnback came last summer. We also did a google search and was brought to this forum. Good friendships have been forged and difficult questions answered. We have a daughter in eighth grade who also wants to try for the Academy in class of 2016. I'll encourage her to use CC as much as possible.

One other thing - the CC dinners during orientation would have been amazing. Hopefully we can participate with child #2. Thanks for the support and great answers this past medical turnback year. Child #1 is ready to roll on June 26th. This time, a little wiser!!
