Which has a better history program, Stanford or Yale?

Both programs are in the top 5.

From what I understand, Yale's is one of the tip-top history programs. I'm not sure but I'd guess it is number 1. My textbook is written by a Yale prof for a reason. Still Stanford is where all the great psychology stuff happens. It is easily and by far number one in that field. Harvard is number one in Political Science. So the social science's top programs are spread out, but all the schools I just mentioned have great programs in the humanities so pick the one you want based on other factors.

It's hard to say that Harvard has better polisci program than Stanford...or that Yale's history program is better than Stanford.

There are literally hundreds of history courses offered each year at Stanford.

I think the quality of life and experience is way better at Stanford. That said, stanford has a great history program- but yale has the best. The exception might be 20th century history, where Stanford really shines

The difference in quality in the two programs, if any, isn't enough that it should influence your decision. If you want to study history you'll have a great program at either school. Try to figure out which school is a better fit for you overall.

Thanks a lot, and i bet it will come down to which is a better fit! :)
