What is the quality of classes in this department? I'm very interested in Eastern Civilization history: India, China, and Japan among others. I've already taken European History (AP: 4) and U.S. History (AP: 5). And I'm more interested in the the pre middle ages history of the west than the stuff you cover in those classes. What are the strengths of these classes in this department? And how strong is the department in general? Do you feel that you've learned a lot? I know that Chicago has great Museums.

so, any volunteers?

/bump

Does anybody here know anything about the history department?

I suspect this will be last time I post here until I get accepted or someone posts.

/desperate plea

I really dont know a huge amount about the history departpent...but...its good.

The history program is very good. History & ancient history/studies are some of the strongest programs at Chicago, as well as civilization studies in general.

The history program is supposed to be renowned. I'm not that familiar with it otherwise.

Actually, I personally know the history dept. chair @ Chicago; he's distantly related to me (he even took me out for lunch last winter after I got accepted EA). I can give you his email if you PM me.
