For the people who have taken the history sat, is there a lot of stuff on the 1960s-present day? Because I looked on sparknotes and it said that there are only 1-3% on it and imo that's negligible but i dunno if the percentage is reliable. I'm using the kaplan book to study atm and do you guys think i should skip the last 4 chapters (1960-present) and use that time to focus more on the rest of the test or is that a bad idea?

My goal is 700+ so thats like a 60/90 question raw score

You might at least skim over the Civil Rights Movement, Vietnam, Watergate, Warren and Burger Courts, Reaganomics, etc. because those are fairly important.

I feel like there was deff more on that period than i expected but i did really well with out knowing that period so idk..i think alot of it was just basic 'who is martin luther king' stuff

^ o i'm doing the vietnam war and civil rights movements....ones I'm questioning about skipping are: cultural and social change in the 1960s, politics and society 1968-1980, triumph of conservatism 1980-1992, and American at the turn of the century...o and my question applies to the pre-columbus period as well.

Am I just being stupid wanting to short cut my study or is it better off to just use that time to focus on the more important stuff?

You're not stupid. You're practical. But, you got time. Focusing on the important stuff includes that stuff too. Be careful about what you shortcut...

the history test's range of questions can be pretty random sometimes. i took it on may 3 and it was harder than my APUSH test. cover early/colonial america thoroughly because they do ask questions about that time period that you might've forgotten because you learned it so early in the school year. civil war is prevalent on the test also. some random questions about native americans were thrown in but mostly i remember them asking about that colonial/civil war era.

^ hm all right but when you sat early/colonial america do you mean all the different colonies (where, when, what they did/grew and stuff)? and also on the real test do you need to memorize a lot of random names and authors? and thanks guys.

o and also any suggestions on how to study? i have the kaplan book should i just read it over cover to cover? but the thing is that when i read it i only take in the more important info and the minor details i forget ><

AMSCO equals GOD

post in a minute post in 30 secs

RAFAEL FURCAL will have a good year

see ya at the staples center 4 game 5

^ i dont have amsco >< will kaplan do the job?

i looked over kaplan and felt that it rlly doesnt cover the material that will be on the test as well as other prep book, not including amsco
i liked the barrons PR and REA a a lot better so pick up one of those
r u going to the lakers game if theres a game 5 ?

I used Kaplan AP USH to study for sat history and ap. I thought it was alright, very brief and straight to the point.

it doesn't give those facts that amsco and PR/barrons cover that may b random and show up on SAT 2 like
who is peggy eaton
henry clay american system
scarlett letter
horatio alger
frontier closing
iron clad
wade davis bill
neremberg conspiricy
century of dishonor

stuff like that kaplan does not have

if anyone has tix they r selling for the lakers game 5 PM me i dont want anything close just stuff up on the balcony by the wall
say 60 a ticket or something thanks

^ Pn0yS0ld13r: T.T mines us history sat lol

^ lol damn i'm already overwhelmed with the 300 pages not only do i have to read but memorize...and i also got math to study for am i screwed? lol

i got maths 2 study for also lol
us history and maths for you?
basically as of me right now i havn;t studied at all 4 maths yet
for ush ive memorized up to the cold war in amsco
so id say u better start working on it cuz i feel behind
and u to the cold war in amsco is 550 pgs so...idk w/e
get PR over kapla though im telling u i looked over all them at a book store and PR or barrons beats kapalan

ru in an ap class though?

and seriously PM me if u have any lakers tickets for game 5 i cant find any on ebay for less than 80 ill buy them for 60 if u have any

no im not in ap history only ap math...but yeah ill try to get a pr book by next week but last time i checked it's really short

yeah specially since ur not in ap history i would get the better book PR
i got PR 2 supplement amsco
but i looked over PR barrons kaplan in the book store here iw hy PR was the best
PR was shorter but it had everything u needed it divided it up into time peiod that were longer so it had much less chapters, but from the information i was reading in it it had many of the things that amsco did which were the essentials and the random facts/authors
kaplan had some mecessary things but didnt cover everything and just went way too in depth on some topics
get PR dont waste ur time reading kaplan

Damn you AMSCO owners, I'm so jealous. I couldn't get my hands on one, so I thought I would be ok with REA. I got up to the Articles of Confederation on there, and got really disappointed with it. Feels like it's missing a ton of stuff.

I'm dropping REA and using the Dummies book instead.

the kaplan had most of those topics except the last 2
