@skieurope Do you think my school is being too loose? Now that you tell me, human geography sounds very much a part of global history …
but given that history - AP Euro (or AP Human Geography, if I manage to successfully negotiate with the school) - is the only AP course I can take as a sophomore at my school, I think I may as well do Euro - since everyone tells me college admission officers think lightly of Human Geography.
Well, you struggling in the first 2 months of AP World History is to be expected (I’m not saying that as an insult, I swear) - in the sense that it was your first AP course & you were transitioning to high school. I can relate, too with my first AP class. I promise that it’ll be easier to manage in the next few years, even with ECs like Cross Country.
GOOD - Keep doing that
I wouldn’t be too surprised if your teacher is making quizzes more difficult as the year goes on - some teachers do that. tbh, I actually did poorly on unit tests in AP World history, too - and that was one of my favorite classes I think what kept my grade up were essays, vocab quizzes, and projects.
My studying tips aren’t too great (sorry!). believe it or not, I was actually searching for old threads on how to study tips just now
For AP World, I actually did the readings & took notes (unlike my classmates, lol), I had two AP review books (Crash Course - AP World History, and the Princeton review one) and I used those together. My teacher also had a TON of notes that she put online, and I used those, too. I made charts for certain countries and their rulers - I made one for France b/c I kept getting confused about all the King Louis’s… I made one for Russia, too.
A side note - this is more for the AP test, though; make sure you know the regions of the world in case an essay asks you to compare one region of the world to another. Know the difference between Sub Saharan Africa & North Africa, East Asia and South East Asia, East/Central/West Europe, etc. You don’t want to write an essay about the wrong region! they won’t give brownie points for trying, I assure you.
You can look up past AP tests essays on College Board, if you want to have an idea about what they may ask you. Sorry that I can’t help much!
No no no @miopyon13 this is totally helpful. Thanks so much for giving your time to write this. I’m copying and pasting these tips and sending email to myself right now. I think I really need to go over the regions on the globe - thanks so much!!! >:D<
