Hitting the Books... and maybe conquer the SATs?

Alright. I have a very... bad score on the SATs. ahem 1710 (combining the best scores) =_=

First off Id like to say that Im beginning to think the New SATs is harder than the old one. Ive heard a lot of people complain about it.

Now for my main question. If I study and complete 2 SAT books at the end of this summer to get ready for the fall SAT... how much would it raise my score?

I can't give you an exact point value, but if you put in the time, you should be able to significantly raise your score. While outside prep books may be good for reviewing material (math and writing concepts), their practice tests should be taken with a grain of salt. If you rely solely on those test, especially if you only take tests from one company, either you will have an unreasonably low score expection or you will be disappointed when your test score does not meet your practice test scores. I would recommend that you read through the sticked thread on the "Xiggi method" and use real SAT tests from the College Board as your primary source of practice and preparation. You can use the new "blue" book, the old 10 Real SAT's book and the handful of practice tests found online, which should provide a good supply of questions to practice from.

Use the study hall (search on google) for the explainations in the red book.

It does not matter how much you study.. it has to be effictive.

I have the Old 10 Real SAT books. Would that still be useful for studying?
