HKU/HKUST applicants: Class of 2017!

dubyawhy, are you an early applicant?

I am applying for Social Sciences, not Engineering, still waiting for a reply, should I ask them ??? Will that hamper the application process??? Thanks for ur replies for my prev post guys… :)

Any advice on Berkeley vs HKUST for Comp. Engineering?

Also, does anyone know what are the class sizes like at HKUST?

Predicted scores
IB- 40/45
A-Level Mathematics - A* (think i’ll get an A tho :/)
Local (international qualification tho)

Offer from HKU engineering:
37 w 7 in SL math HL physics
A in A-level math
Offer DECLINED by me. (went to summer course there, hated campus and the local’s unfriendly interaction with non-cantonese speakers as well as some professors being UNABLE TO SPEAK ENGLISH?! )

Offer from HKUST engineering:
34 w 5 in SL math and HL Physics

Offer accepted + deposit paid + attended local international accepted students reception @ HKUST, loved everything about HKUST.

But seriously tho, all international applicants who cannot speak cantonese or mandarin should definetely come to HKUST and not HKU unless you are applying for non-math related fields. It is definetely a nicer environment and there are many more international-friendly aspects about HKUST.

so, is it only me or do the stats not make any sense…what is O Levels/GCSEs/IGCSES.
AS results, A Levels predicted, etc. anyone willing to translate these into their american system equivalent such as APs, GPA, etc?
Thx!

darthcat, do you know what the lowest IB score is for anyone who has been accepted by HKUST for engineering? Also any specific reason why they might have been accepted such as special internships, volunteer work done etc?

Can someone chance me for HKU IBGM and CUHK / HKUST Global Business? I’m an international non-jupas student.

I have a predicted of 43 / 45
English A SL 7
Chinese B HL 7
Math SL 7
Chemistry SL 6
Biology HL 6
Economics HL 7

SAT I - 2140 (CR 680 M 710 W 710)
SAT II - 730 Math IIC, 750 Biology

Hi guys, I am thinking about applying to HKU and HKUST to do Economics (2014), maybe through fast-track.

Some basic info: I was raised and grew up in the UK and have recently done my AS exams. A2 results will be known next year.
I have HK ID so I will be applying through non-jupas.

I was wondering if anyone who’s applied through non-jupas and had their interview could tell me a bit more about the interview and its format.

 • Did they ask quite general questions or did they ask specific questions related to the subject?
 • What language? Cantonese? English? Both?
 • Was it a really long interview?
 • For those who lived abroad and couldn’t make it to Hong Kong, did they arrange to interview you through the phone or the internet?
 • Or can anyone please tell me the exact questions that they asked?

Any help appreciated, thanks!

bit confused UCL(london) or HKUST for computer sc. engineering?:/

Hey . Ive applied for engineering in the late round In hkust with 96% in 12th isc boards . Is it possible to get acceptance from hkust. Pls . Someone reply

This thread seems to be mostly for business and engineering fields. Is anyone thinking about applying for journalism at HKU?
