You get the biggest suitcases you can find and distribute them among the people coming with you to school for the plane ride. Then over summers you just store it. You can buy some stuff when you get there.

shipping via UPS or DHL (a little cheaper than ups). If you can find students at your school who live in your area, another option is to all chip in and rent one of those containers that they drop off and then deliver.

For my daughter we shipped a few boxes (very few, so many people pack too much!). For my son, there was a student-run business that rented a truck and picked up boxes locally and took them to the school, even delivering when he wanted. Everything else was taken in suitcases on the planes.

When you get information following acceptance of admission, the school will tell you how you can go about it.

Another method you can use is if you buy any new stuff, clothes or whatnot, have it shipped directly to your college address instead of to your home. Lands End and many other on-line or catalogue retailers will ship this way.

Yes, that's true. You just need to make sure that nothing is delivered before the date the college specifies it will accept deliveries. The same is true for stuff you ship yourself, of course.

If there is a student-run business, they will let you know ... I suppose if you are really curious you can check out the "student life" section of the college web site or call the school.

But you don't need to worry. Packing a few boxes and taking them to UPS is little more work than packing them up and driving to where a truck is going to be. Your stuff will get to college just fine.
