Hi .. here's my stats (i'm upper middle class white female)

I plan to go to into financing or possibly actuarial sciences. What are my chances at:

Harvard
Yale
Columbia
Northwestern
UChicago
Duke
Brown
Amherst
Carleton (in state)

..other good finance/actuarial schools??

THANKS!

bring
up
my
post

..anyone?

I'm sure you have a decent shot at all of those schools...good luck

You're solid, I don't see too much of a point in asking.

The only thing is...everything. Or really, you're aiming for finance and actuarial studies, while everything else on your application points the other way. Are you sure that's what you want to do in life?

The colleges will probably note the same inconsistency with your planned major, but I don't really see it becoming too much of a problem anyway.

Good point, acidtest, i never thought about that.

I want to become a money manager in the long run, as of right now, anyways. I might not disclose my intended major in my app...im thinking it could always change.

Harvard slight reach
Yale slight reach
Columbia slight reach/match
Northwestern match
UChicago match
Duke slight reach
Brown slight reach/match
Amherst slight reach/match
Carleton no idea...

it's hard to tell you if it's a slight reach or match just because ivies are crapshots and someone with identical grades can get in, but it just might not be you. regardless your chances are very good.

You have a shot at every place on that list, but please make sure to add in some safer choices that you would be happy at in case those don't work out (none of those schools should be considered "safeties" for ANYONE). But yeah, none of those are out of the question.

Harvard = 30%
Yale = 30%
Columbia = 60%
Northwestern = 70%
UChicago = 75%
Duke = 40%
Brown = 45%
Amherst = 40%
Carleton (in state) = instate doesnt matter, seeing as its a private school, but 75%

i agree with LACalum -- add in some safeties, possibly U of M?
