Is it a lot harder to get into UCI or any of the UC schools if you are not a California resident? I really like UCI, but I am a resident of New York. I have a pretty strong average with an impressive course load. My SATs are not that strong though.

Any advice you can lend to me would be much appreciated!

I’m from MA, one of the most disadvantageous states to apply from, and I got in with a 2.8 unweighted. It can’t be that bad.

thank you! I have around a 3.8, so that makes me feel much better

It definitely is harder if you’re out-of-state. The average gpa for all freshman admitted was 4.01 last year, so an out-of-state applicant with a slightly higher gpa probably has about an average change of getting in.

ScaredyLuigi, would you mind sharing your SAT/ACT scores?

Accepted today!!! :)
