hmmm...APUSH exam in 2 days

honestly.. I need to get big ideas.. I think ive got details mostly for the mc.. i just used course notes and my text..so im ok ont hat.. but how are you guys studying the big picture of each era..

anyone want to divide up the major eras of US history? I just really need to get big ideas in each era, and I really have no idea how to do that.. or wut is really "the big idea"..

Blah, taking the day off tomorrow.. so sadly very very screwed..

Do yall' think the Sparknotes is hard? I think it is...:-</p>

I haven't written any DBQs or essays before. Thoughts, tips, etc?

^Do you mean the tests....

Yes....

tip dbqs, how to write an essay?

My secret technique can never be revealed, glucose.

Anyway, APUS in 2 days, SAT in 3 days. Ohh...man

Really...I personally thought Sparkntoes was one of the easier ones, because all other practice tests I've taken are extremely harder.

About writing an essay, I don't know what to say, I personally I've learned nothing different from writing a regular persuassive essay. About DBQs just write it like a FR, but take general ideas from the Ds and after you've written the idea, just write the letter after it, like (Doc A)

I thought Sparknotes was kind of easy as well.

DBQs.. don't forget outside info~

Yea on the sparknotes test I got 60+, and then on other practice exams i'm gettin 45-50...Sparknotes is damn easy

yeah i though Sparknotes was relatively easy.

lol i like how "decent" is a 7. A seven is excellent. 3 seven's would get one a 21 total, and the average is about a 12. assuming the person doesn't totally screw up the MC, getting all sevens would assure a four and nearly assure a 5.

Supposedly your MC and essay scores are very close. The lowest score for a 5 is a 114. This means you need a raw score of roughly 57 or higher to be in a 5 range, and that would corrolate to about 6's or 7's on the essays, IMO. Remember, the raw score is not the number right, it's the number right minus 1/4 of the number wrong. I took a full MC practice test, got 58, missed 20 and left 2 blank. That gave me a 60.25, which is a five with decent essays, probably about 7's.

EDIT: Looked it up in my PR book: The DBQ is worth 45%, and the two FR's are worth 27.5% a piece. To calculate your score, they multiply your DBQ score (1-9 scale) by 4.5, and your other two by 2.75. This means that if you get 7's on all your essays, your score on the essay's is a 70, and you are shooting for a 114 total, meaning you would then need atlest 44 on the MC, which isn't hard at all.

Does anyone know if Barrons AP American exams are harder than the actual test?? I got a 56/80 on the MC...I thought it was very difficult. I have the AMSCO RB ((its my life right now)) & thats what I'm mainly studying from...along w/ Garraty

I'm a good BSer, to be honest.

Will this get me through it? (Can generate good thoughts from documents/evidence provided, yet probably can't bring in A LOT of outside information)

56 out of 80 is good, it will give you a 50, if you answered all the others wrong. A 50 is a good 4. Ofcourse, if you left some blank your score will go up

56/80 is good? Wow, I was worried with a 67/80 in one of my worse performances on a practice test. Then again, on my best MC performance the book told me I only had to get 4 average on each essay to get a 5. I <3 MC!

Thanks for the info GinPA, I wanna get that MC score up, I'm really worried about essays

Suppose you get .. all 4s on the FRQs and DBQs. What would you have to pull off on the multiple choice to get a 3? And is a 4 possible with those low scores?

Right now i'm not trusting my brain's recall ability for any of the essays.

I estimate that with all FRQ 4s you can get a 5 with about 70 raw score. Not sure about 3 or 4.

OK, I did some math and here's how it roughly, with emphasis, breaks down:

This assumes that you answer all the questions, which is a fair assumption to make, at the most you should only leave a few blank.

Sooo, these are what you need to get a 5 (score of 114+)

Average of 9's = 90 raw; 36/80 MC correct = 25 raw; Total = 115

Average of 8's = 80 raw; 44/80 MC correct = 35 raw; Total = 115

Average of 7's = 70 raw; 52/80 MC correct = 45 raw; Total = 115

Average of 6's = 60 raw; 60/80 MC correct = 55 raw; Total = 115

Average of 5's = 50 raw; 68/80 MC correct = 65 raw; Total = 115

Average of 4's = 40 raw; 76/80 MC correct = 75 raw; Total = 115

Average of 3's = 30 raw; 80/80 MC correct = 80 raw; Total = 110 (a 4)

Average of 2's = 20 raw; 80/80 MC correct = 80 raw; Total = 100 (still a 4)

Average of 1's = 10 raw; 80/80 MC correct = 80 raw; Total = 90 (3, I think)

So if you average out essay scores and are somewhere in between 6 and 7, you need between 52 and 60 correct to pull out a 5. Also, this is for answering all question...if you leave some that you don't know at all blank, you're scores will go up.

Hehe... I'm just saying I can take the AP US History test on the 18th because my school made some contract, so they changed the dates around. I'm happy- I have time to study. -don't hurt me ...-

o god im so screwed....i have a horrible memory and there's no way i'll be able to remember most of the things we covered this year...given that I only have tomorrow to study xP

can't wait till its all over...
