Hobart vs. Fordham vs. Villanova

My daughter has been accepted to Hobart William Smith, Fordham, and Villanova, with significant scholarship money from Hobart and Villanova. These are all very different schools. Her plan is to go to medical school. The cost of medical school needs to factor into this decision, but she also needs a strong program to be competitive. Any thoughts?

My S went to Fordham and loved it, but with med school ahead cost shoudl definitely be a consideration so I’d take Fordham out of your mix. I’d suggest your D re-visit those two schools on accepted student day before deciding. (FWIW I’m a big fan of Villanova – I know a number of people who had very good experiences there)

My daughter is a Freshmen at Fordham Rose Hill campus and is so happy that she attends the school. She loves that she feels challenged in her classes, has met really nice friends and feels that it’s easy to get involved with so many different clubs. NYC is right at her fingertips and she takes full advantage of enjoying everything there is to offer. She loves that she has the Bronx neighborhood as well as the beautiful campus setting within the gates of the university. We feel confident that she will have many opportunities after graduating from Fordham! Good luck!

Can you list your net price at each?
(Tuition, fees, room, board)-(grants, scholarships)=

Yes, so Villanova was a typo. No money from Nova, or very little.

Net cost for Hobart 34,185
Net for Loyola 32,980
Fordham 40,408
Nova: 58,000
Probably seems obvious doesn’t it? But we love Nova! I wish they loved us more!
